San Diego @ Arizona preview

Chase Field

Last Meeting ( Jul 2, 2012 ) San Diego 6, Arizona 2

The San Diego Padres continue their 10-game road trip Tuesday when they face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the middle contest of their three-game series. San Diego improved to 5-3 on its trek with a 6-2 triumph in the series opener on Monday. The Padres have won four of their last five contests.

Alexi Amarista has been a major contributor during that span, recording three multi-hit performances while belting his first four career homers and driving in 11 runs. The 23-year-old, who had not homered in his first 55 major-league contests, was a triple shy of becoming the first player in Padres history to hit for the cycle. Monday's loss was the third in a row for the Diamondbacks, who had their four-game home winning streak snapped. Arizona has captured 10 of its last 12 contests at Chase Field.

TV: 9:40 p.m. ET, FSN (San Diego, Arizona)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres RH Andrew Cashner (3-3, 3.63 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Trevor Bauer (0-0, 4.50 ERA)

Cashner will be making his third start of the season and the fourth of his career. The 25-year-old converted reliever settled for a no-decision at Houston on Thursday despite allowing just two runs and two hits while striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings. Cashner made his first career start against Arizona on April 5, 2011 while with the Chicago Cubs, yielding one run and two hits over 5 1/3 frames of a no-decision.

Bauer made his major-league debut Thursday at Atlanta, allowing two runs and five hits over four innings in a no-decision. The 21-year-old exited early due to a cramp in his groin. Bauer, who was selected third overall, is the first player from the 2011 draft to play in the majors.

WALK-OFFS

1. Padres LHP Joe Thatcher recorded the save Monday, his first in 213 career appearances.

2. San Diego C Yasmani Grandal is the first player since St. Louis' Keith McDonald in 2000 whose first three major-league hits were home runs.

3. The Diamondbacks have homered in a franchise record-tying 13 consecutive games.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
