Arizona @ Milwaukee preview

American Family Field

Last Meeting ( Jun 30, 2012 ) Arizona 2, Milwaukee 10

Yovani Gallardo has won all six career starts against the Arizona Diamondbacks. A victory Sunday would allow the host Milwaukee Brewers to take two of three from Arizona in a rematch of the 2011 National League Division Series. The Brewers collected only their second win in seven outings Saturday after Ryan Braun belted a pair of homers en route to a 10-2 triumph. Braun, who will learn Sunday if he made his fifth straight All-Star team, leads the National League with 22 homers.

Miguel Montero belted a solo homer in the ninth inning for Arizona, which will attempt to split its six-game road trip before hosting NL West rivals San Diego and Los Angeles prior to the All-Star break. Justin Upton (4-for-12) and Jason Kubel (3-for-8) have posted respectable numbers versus Gallardo - but Montero is only 1-for-7.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Josh Collmenter (0-2, 4.80 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Yovani Gallardo (6-6, 4.14)

With Daniel Hudson suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, Collmenter was summoned to return to the starting rotation. The 26-year-old pitched four solid innings in an emergency start Friday when Joe Saunders could not get loose warming up. Collmenter then replaced Hudson in the second inning Tuesday and tossed four scoreless innings.

Gallardo suffered a hard-luck loss in his last outing. The 26-year-old Mexican allowed two runs on four hits in six innings, but took the loss in a 3-1 setback to Cincinnati on Monday. Gallardo pitched brilliantly against Arizona on May 25, permitting one run on five hits in 7 1/3 innings to pick up the win.

WALK-OFFS

1. Although Randy Wolf has struggled mightily, Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke gave him a vote of confidence after telling reporters that he had no plans of removing the veteran from the rotation. "It's not even on my mind right now," Roenicke said.

2. After collecting four hits Friday and 13 in his last eight games overall, Paul Goldschmidt went 0-for-4 on Saturday. The difficult night dropped him from .299 to .293 on the season.

3. Milwaukee draft pick Damien Magnifico tweeted Saturday that he made a decision about his future. "It's great to be around family, friends, and the girlfriend. And now have things figured out for the future," he wrote. Magnifico did not divulge just what he "figured out."

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
