Colorado @ Texas preview

Choctaw Stadium

Last Meeting ( Jun 22, 2012 ) Colorado 1, Texas 4

The Texas Rangers will look to match their longest winning streak of the season when they host the Colorado Rockies in the second of a three-game series Saturday. The Rangers beat their opponents into submission while winning eight straight in April, but the current streak has been built upon great pitching - not to mention feasting on National League foes. Texas is 11-2 during this 13-game stretch of interleague play, and all 11 wins have come by holding the opposition to three runs or fewer.

Colorado is skidding in the opposite direction, losing for the 13th time in 15 games to tumble 17 games below .500 at 26-43. Rookie catcher Wilin Rosario remains one of the bright spots, collecting three hits Friday to extend his hitting streak to six games. The Rockies had 12 hits in the series opener but stranded 10 runners. That won't do with a pitching staff that has held an opponent under four runs just once in the last 15 games.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Josh Outman (0-3, 8.41 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Colby Lewis (6-5, 3.00)

Outman is winless in four starts since his insertion into the starting rotation. With Rockies manager Jim Tracy having switched to a four-man rotation, he will be the team's first starter to work on three days' rest. The 75-pitch limit shouldn't be an issue for Outman, whose longest outing was five innings. He has allowed 14 runs in 12 1/3 innings over his last three turns.

Lewis has been outstanding in winning his last two starts. He struck out 10 while allowing one run on three hits in seven innings to beat Houston last time out after limiting Arizona to one run on four hits in a complete-game effort in his previous start. He had surrendered 13 homers in an eight-start stretch entering June, but has permitted only one while allowing six earned runs in his last four starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Rangers have the best overall record (44-27) and top interleague mark (13-3) in baseball.

2. Entering this year, the Rockies were 56-37 in interleague play since 2006 - the best mark in the NL. Friday's loss dropped them to 1-12 this year.

3. Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre is batting .483 (14-for-29) with three homers and 10 RBIs in his last eight games.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
