Seattle @ San Francisco preview
AT&T Park
Last Meeting ( Mar 28, 2015 ) San Francisco 9, Seattle 8
The Seattle Mariners are playing in San Francisco for the first time in 15 years when they meet the Giants on Monday for the first of two games in the Bay Area. Seattle's visit in 2000 came during San Francisco's first season playing in AT&T Park.
The teams play four consecutive games against each other as the scene shifts to Seattle for two games beginning Wednesday. The Giants are struggling in their home ballpark as they produced two runs and 14 hits while losing three straight to the Arizona Diamondbacks to stretch their losing streak at AT&T Park to eight. Seattle, which had just two hits Sunday while being trounced 13-0 in Houston, has scored three or fewer runs in 16 of its last 18 games. The Mariners have been shut out in three of their last four games and have lost 11 of their last 15 contests.
TV: 10:15 p.m. ET, ROOT (Seattle), CSN Bay Area (San Francisco)
PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners RH Taijuan Walker (3-6, 5.40 ERA) vs. Giants RH Tim Hudson (4-5, 4.60)
Walker has been atrocious on the road with a 2-4 mark and 8.27 ERA in seven starts. He fared well while traveling in his last turn, though, by allowing one run and eight hits in six innings to win in Cleveland. Walker has given up four runs in 22 innings while winning two of his last three starts.
Hudson beat the New York Mets in his last start while allowing four runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. He has issued just 13 bases on balls over his last 11 starts after uncharacteristically walking five in his first outing of the season. Hudson is 13-6 with a 3.17 ERA in 24 career starts against Seattle.
