Detroit Tigers vs Seattle Mariners Match Player Stats On Jul 27, 2019

Marco Gonzales pitched seven strong innings as the Seattle Mariners defeated the visiting Detroit Tigers 8-1 Saturday afternoon.

Austin Nola had a double, triple and three RBIs for the Mariners, who have won four games in a row for the first time since April. Rookie Ryan Court, making his first major league start, also drove in three runs, Omar Narvaez went 4-for-5 and Tim Beckham was 3-for-4 with two doubles.

The Tigers suffered their fifth consecutive defeat and dropped to 2-13 since the All-Star break.

Gonzales (12-8) allowed one run on six hits to win for the seventh time in his past nine starts. He didn't walk a batter and struck out eight.

Tigers left-hander Tyler Alexander (0-1), making his third major league start, allowed four runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out nine.

Detroit took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. With one out, JaCoby Jones doubled to center field, and Niko Goodrum followed with a run-scoring single into right field.

The Mariners moved in front in the fourth. Narvaez and Beckham led off the home half of the inning with singles and scored on Nola's triple. An out later, Court got his first major league hit, a single up the middle, to make it 3-1.

Mallex Smith led off the bottom of the fifth with a single and advanced to second on Narvaez's single. Smith scored on Beckham's double to right.

The Mariners scored four times in the seventh for an 8-1 advantage. Narvaez led off with a single and moved to third on Beckham's double. Daniel Vogelbach hit a run-scoring single to center. Nola then hit a run-scoring double to left. An out later, Court's ground-rule double to right scored the final two runs.

There were no home runs, the first time neither the Mariners nor their opponents went deep in a game this season. Their streak of 107 consecutive games played with at least one homer set a single-season MLB record, far exceeding the previous mark of 69.
