The big games keep coming but Manchester City are still in the mix for an unprecedented Treble repeat — and their FA Cup run continues on Saturday with this quarterfinal clash against Newcastle.
Pep Guardiola’s men were held to a 1-1 draw at Liverpool last weekend, but it’s been smooth sailing otherwise. Before sharing the points at Anfield, City put together a five-game win streak, which included Erling Haaland’s five-goal show against Luton in the last round of this competition.
The FA Cup represents Newcastle’s last chance to salvage a disappointing season, but they’re clear underdogs on the road here after slipping to a 3-2 loss at Chelsea on Monday and barely scraping past Blackburn on penalties in the fifth round.

Man City vs Newcastle picks and predictions
While Kevin De Bruyne’s groin injury is a setback in City’s quest for a second straight Treble, the star power and recent trends suggest we’re still going to get goals at the Etihad this weekend.
City have scored at least three goals in three of their past four contests, including a 3-1 win in the Manchester derby — and the Over on 3.5 total goals has hit in those same three outings.
At the other end, the hosts haven’t kept a clean sheet since February 24 and will be without Ederson for up to a month.
Newcastle’s recent form points even more emphatically to chances at both ends. The Magpies’ last three road games have all delivered five goals, and their shaky defending was in the spotlight again at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
The visitors haven’t shown enough to suggest they can shut the game down with a defensive game plan, so their best chance of an upset here is surely to be positive. That means getting men forward to support Alexander Isak, who’s scored in his last two Premier League appearances.
Even without De Bruyne, the hosts have an embarrassment of riches in attack, with Haaland, Phil Foden, and Julian Alvarez set for big games, and I’m taking the Over on 3.5 total goals.

In a season where De Bruyne and Haaland have both dealt with injuries, Foden’s rise has been one of the biggest reasons that City are still in the hunt for three more trophies.
I’m picking him to get on the scoresheet on Saturday in my SGP — and he’s already matched last season’s Premier League tally of 11 goals. Even better, Foden has a terrific record in the FA Cup with 12 goals in 15 starts, and his movement should create headaches for Newcastle’s out-of-sorts backline.
I’m also picking City to take control of this tie early and never relinquish it. They’ve led after 45 in four of their last five contests, and Guardiola has the luxury of a loaded bench if the hosts need some second-half magic.
Going further back, the numbers support a City victory. They’ve won 15 of their last 16 home clashes against Newcastle, including the past nine meetings at the Etihad.

City are the in-form team here and their moneyline has been pushed to almost -400. That leaves Newcastle as a +900 underdog, but it's tough to make the case for the visitors, even with their season on the line. Eddie Howe’s men have just a single win from their past five games.
One of the few question marks is whether Pep will shuffle his starting line-up in a big way — but that feels unlikely since City didn’t play in midweek and their next contest isn’t until March 31. Still, a Champions League tie with Real Madrid on deck in April is a reminder that the hosts need to stay fresh.
I’ve already picked a high-scoring clash and City’s firepower is the standout factor. Jeremy Doku came off the bench against Liverpool but he could have a bigger role this weekend as Guardiola looks to replace De Bruyne’s creative spark.
Either way, I have faith in the host's wide men supplying chances for Haaland, especially with Howe short on options at full-back.
Newcastle may be without Anthony Gordon, in addition to Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson, and Harvey Barnes, but they continue to pose a threat in the final third. The BTTS — Yes prop is worth a look, with the Magpies scoring in each of their last 13 contests.
