Bayern Munich vs Arsenal Predictions and Picks: Gunners Handle Business

A 2-2 draw in last week's fixture has left books questioning the capability of Arsenal, but our Champions League picks aren't doubting the Gunners on the road.

We have a great game in store with Bayern Munich vs. Arsenal today. The match is finely poised after the first leg finished 2-2, and now they'll face each other again at the Allianz Arena with a Champions League semifinal spot on the line.

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal picks and predictions

Bayern Munich host Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal and it’s a game that looks vastly different to the one that we saw at the Emirates last week. Ahead of that leg Arsenal were heavy favorites, but what we saw was a 2-2 draw. It wasn’t the result many expected and made people question whether there was more in this contest than originally thought.

However, what have we learned about Bayern Munich since last week? They beat Koln with ease but let’s not forget they currently sit 17th in the Bundesliga and are likely to get relegated. That’s a game in which Bayern should be winning every single time.

Even the 2-2 draw against Arsenal wasn’t a game in which Bayern impressed. They did better than many thought but trailed in shots, shots on targets, and possession. Arsenal were the better team and we should have confidence their quality will tell the difference here.

Heading into last Tuesday Arsenal were -130 to win, with Bayern ML at +340. Those odds were too short, but now the market has gone the other way and +185 is simply far too big. Arsenal, besides that 2-0 defeat to Villa on Sunday, have largely been excellent this season. They’ve won 22 of 32 games, scoring the second-highest amount of goals in the Premier League and conceding the least.

The Gunners come into this game with a relatively clean bill of health and they’re not lacking any of their key players, something which can’t be said for Bayern, who may be without some, or all, of Manuel Neuer, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane.

You don’t always get teams of Arsenal’s quality at prices like +185, so look past a poor week for the club and focus on the undoubted ability that they have, because we have evidence from throughout this season they’re a top team. This +185 could look a little silly come Wednesday night.

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal same-game parlay (SGP)

Arsenal to win

Bukayo Saka to score or assist

Harry Kane Over 0.5 shots on target

Saka has shown time and again he’s Arsenal’s best attacking player. He’s operating at the highest level right now, with four goals and four assists across eight Champions League appearances. Domestically he’s been great too, with 14 goals and eight assists in 30 Premier League games. He’ll be the danger man again on Wednesday and scored in last week’s meeting too.

Kane has scored 32 Bundesliga goals this season and another seven in the Champions League, including a penalty last week. More importantly, he’s averaged 4.6 shots per game in the Bundesliga, averaging 2.03 shots on target per game. The Champions League’s second top goalscorer has also averaged 1.35 per game on target in the competition. His last game without a shot on target was at the end of March and in his last 10 games in all competitions, he’s had 19 on target.

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal side and Over/Under analysis

We’ve already covered why Arsenal are the best bet for this game at odds of +185 but it seems wild that Bayern Munich, who have underwhelmed all season are as short at +139 to win here.

Home advantage does have an impact but we’ve not seen enough quality from them this year to have any faith in them at those odds. The draw is at +270 if you think this ends equal. If you’re looking to just bet on the ‘To Qualify’ market then Bayern are -134 favorites and Arsenal are +100 to qualify by either winning in normal time, extra time or on penalties.

If you’re looking to back total goals then you can get Over 2.5 goals at -157 and Under 2.5 goals at +133. So far this season we’ve seen 62.5% of Arsenal’s league games hitting the Over as well as 82.6% of Bayern’s games.
