2026 Copa del Rey Predictions: Expect Referee Alberola Rojas to hand out the cards on Saturday.

The game in Sevilla will decide the winner of the first major domestic trophy in Spain, so expect tension and bits of drama at La Cartuja.

Atletico Madrid are the favorites based on pedigree and recent results, but Real Sociedad can easily cause an upset here. I will look for cards over the moneyline in this much-anticipated match.

Here are my Atletico Madrid vs. Real Sociedad predictions and free betting picks for April 18.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad picks and predictions

My Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad best bet: Atletico Madrid Over 2.5 cards (+130 at Sports Interaction)

Atletico Madrid averages 2.1 cards per game in the Spanish league this season. In each of their last four LaLiga matches, Diego Simeone's players have been shown at least three cards. Against Barcelona, on April 4, they received no fewer than six bookings, and one of their players was sent off.

Alberola Rojas, the referee appointed to officiate this game, is not Atletico's favorite face. The Madrid outfit has complained about him on several occasions, particularly over decisions in Madrid derbies. Rojas' average for bookings in the Spanish top tier this season stands at 4.13 per match.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 4.5 cards

Mikel Oyarzabal 1+ shots on target

1H Under 1.5 goals

Atletico never shies away from physical contact, so high-stakes games involving them are always tense. Given their history with referee Alberola Rojas, as well as his no-nonsense approach, there should be plenty of bookings.

Also note that, despite qualifying for the Champions League semi-finals at Barcelona's expense earlier this week, Atletico are struggling in LaLiga, having lost three games in a row. Tension is high in the dressing room, and Simeone will need to keep things under control if he wants to avoid an outburst.

Mikel Oyarzabal has registered at least one shot on target in 11 of Real Sociedad's last 12 league games, so there's no way I'm leaving him out of my parlay.

Given how big this game is for both sides, I believe neither will force early on. I will opt for under 1.5 goals in the first half to bring my SGP return to a good +310.
