Stars vs Canadiens prediction

Stars vs Canadiens Best bet: Noah Dobson Over 1.5 shots on goal (-155)

Noah Dobson hasn’t produced the same sort of shot volume this season without ice time on the top power play unit. Even so, this has proven to be a very manageable bar to clear — particularly on home soil.

He has averaged 2.1 shots per game in Montreal and gone Over in six of eight games. The unders came against Seattle and Utah, two lower-event teams who rank in the top half of the league in shot suppression.

Although the Dallas Stars also fit that criteria, they’ve given up a ton of volume to defensemen. Only the Maple Leafs have conceded more shots per game to the position over the last 10 games.

The Stars rank dead-last in 5-on-5 shot share during that span, so the Montreal Canadiens should look forward to plenty of offensive zone time in this matchup.

It’s also Dallas’ fourth game in six nights — and third on the road — while the Canadiens are well rested and haven’t traveled in a week.

Look for Dobson to continue his home success on Thursday night.

Stars vs Canadiens same-game parlay

Dobson leads Canadiens blueliners in on-ice expected goal share at home soil. He has points in five of eight games in Montreal and, across all games, has not been held pointless twice in a row this season.

The Stars rank 24th in expected goal generation on the road and will have to contend with Jakub Dobes, who is 6-0-1 with a .920 save percentage. He should help keep the output down and make this a lower scoring affair.
