The Seattle Kraken host the Edmonton Oilers in a Pacific Division tilt on Saturday night.

Edmonton has fared well in this matchup since Seattle joined the league in 2021, winning five of the seven meetings. NHL odds have the Oilers as narrow road favorites despite their 2-9-1 start.

Will the Oilers take care of business vs. Seattle once again, or can the Kraken defend their home ice? Find out in our free NHL picks for Oilers vs. Kraken on Saturday, November 11.

Oilers vs Kraken predictions

The one bright side of Edmonton’s 3-2 loss to the historically bad Sharks on Thursday night is that things can quite literally not get any worse for this team. That was arguably the lowest point of the franchise in the entire Connor McDavid era, and I think that embarrassment will serve as a benefit to this club in the long run.

While the current roster construction of this team will limit them from being actual Stanley Cup odds contenders, this team is far better than their 2-9-1 record suggests. Entering this matchup, the Oilers rank first in the league in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) and 11th in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60) at 5-on-5.

Edmonton ranks first in expected goal differential per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, which places them 15 spots higher than Seattle in that key category. The Oilers have been extremely snakebitten, which is something that always evens out in this league as the season progresses.

This team will get back on track sooner rather than later, and that loss to the Sharks is the perfect catalyst to kick things into another gear. Meanwhile, the Kraken are in a letdown spot after Thursday’s 4-3 upset victory over the Avalanche.

Seattle is also shorthanded in this matchup, as three forwards will all miss this game in Brandon Tanev, Andre Burakovsky, and Jordan Eberle. The biggest question mark for Edmonton is goaltending, as Stuart Skinner is slated to take the crease on Saturday.

While he is untrustworthy, I don’t trust Philipp Grubauer against the Oilers either. Through his past five appearances against Edmonton, Grubauer owns a fade-worthy .827 SV% and a 4.37 GAA. The Oilers won three of those five outings by at least two goals.

Oilers vs Kraken same-game parlay

Oilers -1.5

Over 6.5

Looking back at Grubauer’s starts against Edmonton, there were seven or more total goals scored in four of those aforementioned five outings.

I also discussed how Skinner should not be trusted in this matchup, either. Through eight appearances in the crease this season, he is 1-5-1 with a .854 SV% and a 3.87 GAA. There were seven or more total goals scored in five of those eight games.

Finally, there have been seven or more total goals scored in all seven of the all-time meetings between these two clubs.

Oilers vs Kraken moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Oilers opened as a -115 favorite and remain at that price as of Thursday evening. I don't think the market is going to have any respect whatsoever for Edmonton after that embarrassing loss to San Jose, but sharp money should keep this number in check.

That brings us to the total, which opened at 6.5 and remains at that number. The only direction this number will move in an Oilers-Kraken game is upwards, so if you like the Over, I would pull the trigger sooner rather than later.

There have now been seven or more total goals scored in four of Edmonton’s past five games.
