Oilers vs Jets Prediction, Picks & Same-Game Parlay for Tonight’s NHL Game

Even Connor Hellebuyck's return from injury hasn't helped the Jets off the schneid. The Oilers will pile on with a road win tonight in Winnipeg.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to rebound from a loss out of the holiday break against the grounded Winnipeg Jets at the Canada Life Centre on Monday, December 29.

Winnipeg has dropped five straight to extend a month-plus slump to a miserable 3-10-4 run, and my top Oilers vs. Jets predictions and NHL picks are calling for Edmonton to make matters worse tonight.

Oilers vs Jets prediction

Oilers vs Jets best bet: Oilers moneyline (-115)

The return of back-to-back Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck hasn’t helped the Winnipeg Jets right the ship, as he sports an active 1-5 record with a run-of-the-mill .893 save percentage.

The Edmonton Oilers have gone 10-5-1 record during the same stretch, and I also value the lineup being largely intact.

And, of course, superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been next to automatic, respectively ranking first and third in points across the 16-game run with 65.

Returning to the Winnipeg lineup, No. 1 defenseman Josh Morrisey (undisclosed) has been dubbed day-to-day after taking a heavy hit in Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Wild. I doubt he’ll play at 100% tonight, if he plays at all.

It’s a huge blow for the already reeling Jets, and I think the Oilers put up a rebound win in The ‘Peg after dropping their first game out of the holiday break to the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Oilers vs Jets same-game parlay

Oilers winger Zach Hyman has stuffed the shots column with 24 total on 38 attempts over his last six games, and he’s recorded three or more in five of those. Additionally, his 11.95 shots and 18.92 attempts per 60 minutes during the run aren’t miles above his respective 10.29 and 17.12 marks across 232 games over the prior three seasons, so this uptick in shot volume is sustainable.

Returning to Hellebuyck, I expect him to see enough rubber from the Oil to clear this saves total. He's not going to maintain a SV% below .900, either.

Edmonton has averaged 29.1 shots per game during the 10-5-1 stretch, and Winnipeg has also averaged the fifth-most shorthanded minutes per game this season, so Hellebuyck is set up for a 25+ saves night.
