A pair of struggling Western Conference clubs meet at the Canada Life Centre on Tuesday, January 6, with the Vegas Golden Knights visiting the Winnipeg Jets.

My Golden Knights vs. Jets predictions and NHL picks call for Winnipeg to return to the win column tonight.

Golden Knights vs Jets prediction

Golden Knights vs Jets best bet: Jets moneyline (-115)

The Winnipeg Jets are mired in a 3-14-4 funk, including nine consecutive losses, and they've fallen to the basement of the NHL with a league-low 34 points.

Still, there are signs of improved play with the Jets sporting a third-ranked 55.2 Corsi For percentage and 10th-ranked 51.9 expected goals percentage at 5-on-5 during the nine-game skid, and No. 1 goalie Connor Hellebuyck’s best play is still ahead.

Hellebuyck sports an uncharacteristic .888 SV% and 2.69 GAA with just 2.81 goals saved above expected across nine games since returning from injury, so I’m anticipating the back-to-back Vezina Trophy winner to turn his season around in short order.

Additionally, with the Jets sporting the second-lowest 5-on-5 shooting percentage (6.97) during the noted nine-game losing streak, I’m anticipating statistical correction to Winnipeg's puck luck.

Turning to Tuesday’s opponent, the Vegas Golden Knights are also reeling.

Vegas is begging for a save with the second-worst team save percentage at 5-on-5 during its own 1-5-3 slump, and the Golden Knights are being caved in at 5-on-5 with the sixth-worst CF%, too.

Injuries are also taking a toll on Vegas, so I expect Winnipeg to return to the win column tonight.

Golden Knights vs Jets same-game parlay

The highlighted goaltending and possession shortcomings have led to Vegas allowing the fourth-most goals per game while also ranking 24th in penalty-kill percentage during the highlighted nine-game skid.

Additionally, the Golden Knights have the scoring prowess and depth to do their part in sending this total Over the number. Vegas has averaged 3.11 goals per game during the skid, after all.

Jets No. 1 center Mark Scheifele has recorded two or more shots in four of his past five games, with 18 total on 30 attempts. He’s also pacing Winnipeg in CF% for the season, and as noted, Vegas has been a mess in the possession game of late.
