The Edmonton Oilers season is on the line tonight, and I’m expecting an unlikely hero to help keep them alive.

Read on to see why Kasperi Kapanen is the featured player in my Ducks vs. Oilers predictions and NHL picks for Tuesday, April 28.

Ducks vs Oilers Game 5 prediction

Ducks vs Oilers best bet: Kasperi Kapanen Over 1.5 shots (-140)

Kasperi Kapanen has been an unsung hero for the Edmonton Oilers throughout this series with a team-high four goals and six points through four games.

To score, you have to shoot, which is exactly what Kapanen has been doing throughout this series, which makes his 1.5 shots total an intriguing play for tonight’s best bet.

He’s gone 4-0 to the Over on this number, averaging three shots per game.

He’s also playing heavy minutes alongside Leon Draisaitl, averaging 17:29 minutes, while seeing a series high 19:08 in Game 4.

Additionally, the Oilers averaged 35.5 shots in Games 1 and 2 at home, with Kapanen combining for nine shots in those contests.

Ducks vs Oilers Game 5 same-game parlay

Death, taxes, and bet the Over. That’s a mantra I’ve been saying to myself throughout this entire series. The Over has gone 4-0 so far with an average of 8.75 goals per game, with both teams ranking at the bottom of the league in team save percentage. I’m banking on this trend continuing tonight.

I’ll pair the Over bet with Leon Draisaitl to go Over 1.5 points. He’s 3-1 to the Over, averaging 1.75 points per game in the series. In a do-or-die scenario, I’m expecting a big night from the giant German to help save the Oilers season, especially with McDavid not at 100%.

Ducks vs Oilers SGP

  • Kapanen Over 1.5 shots
  • Over 6.5
  • Draisaitl Over 1.5 points

Ducks vs Oilers Game 5 goal scorer pick

Leon Draisaitl (+115)

With the Oilers in need of a win, I’m expecting their big dogs to show up tonight.

This is why I’m making Leon Draisaitl tonight’s anytime goal scorer at +115.

He has just one goal in the series, which is very unusual. So one could say he’s due. Not only does Draisaitl lead all NHLers with 42 playoff goals since 2021-22, but he has 17 goals in his last 20 games against the Anaheim Ducks.

Additionally, the Oilers PP finally snapped its skid in Game 3. The floodgates could open now, which is where Draisaitl has made his living all year/career long.
