But they could only muster a single point in two earlier meetings with the Boston Bruins, who have caught fire with points in eight of their first nine games and sit just one point back of the Flyers and Capitals atop the division.

Are the Flyers paper division leaders? Despite boasting a 7-2-1 record and having reeled off four consecutive victories, Philadelphia has a modest plus-4 goal differential for the season (thanks in part to a pair of 6-1 losses, one of those coming in Boston). The Bruins exposed Philadelphia's defensive shortcomings in their mini-series, scoring 10 goals in the two games.
A deeper look at the numbers also suggests that Philadelphia is playing with fire. The Flyers have been outshot in nine of their first 10 games this season and are averaging a league-worst minus-10.1 shot differential per game. The Bruins are at the other end of the spectrum, ranked fourth in shots, first in shots against and No. 1 in average shot margin (plus-9.6).
Simply put, the Flyers are imposters. The Bruins have handled them twice already and should do so again Wednesday.

Over/Under Pick
The Flyers' offense has been sensational so far, averaging 3.5 goals through the first 10 games of the season. And while they struggled to do much in the second meeting with the Bruins, they were equal to Boston in that first encounter, dropping a 5-4 shootout decision. The teams have combined for 7+ goals in three of their previous four meetings.
Despite the Flyers' perceived recent improvement on the back end, make no mistake: Philadelphia has been fortunate not to have a higher team goals-against average, and regression is coming soon. Look for these teams to continue lighting up the scoreboard in Wednesday's meeting.
