My analysis
There have been seven or more total goals scored in each of the two meetings between these teams this season, a trend I expect to continue Tuesday evening as goaltender Arvid Soderblom is slated to guard the cage for the Blackhawks. It has been a rough campaign for Soderblom, who is 5-22-1 with a .880 SV% and 3.88 GAA.
Those are some of the worst numbers in hockey, and he has now allowed four or more goals in six of Soderblom’s past nine appearances in the crease. There were six or more total goals scored in six of those nine outings.
These woes are likely to continue against the Golden Knights, a team Soderblom is 0-2 against in his career with a fade-worthy .833 SV% and 4.05 GAA. Now, to be fair to Soderblom, he plays behind one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
This season, the Hawks rank 27th in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). On the other hand, there have also been six or more total goals scored in each of Vegas’ past six games, a trend that exists due to multiple variables.
