Monday’s NHL odds slate features just two games today, and the nightcap is a Western Conference tilt between the Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken.

This game will already be the third and final meeting between these two clubs this season as each side claimed a victory between the first two matchups.

Will Colorado put an end to its two-game losing streak, or can Seattle defend its home rink? Find out in my free NHL picks for the Avalanche vs. Kraken on Monday, November 13.

Avalanche vs Kraken odds

Avalanche vs Kraken predictions

The story of the Seattle Kraken's season thus far has been its sluggish offense. At 5-on-5, the Kraken rank 28th in the league in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60).

That's a troubling ranking to have when going up against the Colorado Avalanche, owners of one of the best blue lines in hockey. Seattle’s little offensive success has come from special teams, but that will also likely be nullified against a Colorado penalty kill that ranks seventh in the league.

To make matters worse, the Kraken will be shorthanded in this matchup as Brandon Tanev, Andre Burakovsky, and Jordan Eberle are all expected to miss this game. On the flip side, the one thing Seattle has done well this season is limit high-danger scoring chances on its side of the ice.

At 5-on-5, the Kraken rank seventh in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). This defensive fortitude will be crucial in limiting Colorado’s explosive offense, especially considering that most of its damage has been done at even strength.

On the power play this season, the Avs are scoring at just a 16.3% clip, good for 22nd in the league. Considering all these variables, I'm attacking the Under 6 in this matchup at +102.

There have now been six or fewer total goals scored in eight of the past 10 meetings between these two teams, let's see another.

My best bet: Under 6 (+102 at FanDuel)

Avalanche vs Kraken same-game parlay

Under 6.5

Avalanche -1.5

Alexandar Georgiev boasts a .945 SV% and 1.98 GAA through two career starts against Seattle and he should continue that strong play against a mediocre Kraken attack. Meanwhile, Philipp Grubauer will be helped out by Seattle’s solid defense, and he should come in with extra motivation against his former team. Regardless, I still give the Avs the edge offensively, defensively, and in net.

I would suggest taking a shot here at the puck line instead of Colorado’s moneyline as seven of the Avs' eight wins this season have come by at least a two-goal differential, while six of the Kraken’s 10 losses have come by at least a two-goal deficit.

Avalanche vs Kraken moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Avalanche opened as a -162 favorite and have since been bet down to -156. The market is respecting the fact Colorado is coming off two straight losses, one of which came against tonight’s opponent.

That brings us to the total, which opened at 6.5 and remains at that number. With that said, I like the Under 6 at +102 more than laying 22 cents of juice at 6.5, although I think there is still value in that number if you wish to go that route.

The Under is 11-2 in the past 13 meetings between these two teams.
