Sunday Night Football is the stage for an important AFC encounter when the Pittsburgh Steelers cross the country to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.

These teams sit near the top of the conference, with the Bolts laying a field goal at SoFi Stadium on Sunday night.

Here are my early Steelers vs. Chargers predictions and NFL picks for November 9.

Steelers vs Chargers predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early SNF spread pick: Steelers +3

-114 at FanDuel

This spread opened Chargers -3.5 and quickly trimmed to a field goal. It may not stop there, with the vig on Pittsburgh +3 climbing and indicating a potential move below the key number. If you’re leaning toward the Los Angeles Chargers, you may want to wait and see how far this line drops later.

The positivity around the Pittsburgh Steelers is warranted — at least it is if what we saw from this Steelers defense last week is real. After struggling in the first half of the schedule, the Pittsburgh stop unit looked like its usual disruptive self in a win over Indianapolis.

This Steelers pass rush scored four sacks and six QB pressures, sparking six turnovers from the Colts in Week 9. If they can carry that pressure over to Week 10, this L.A. offensive line is ripe for the picking. The Chargers lost OT Joe Alt for the season, and fellow OLs Bobby Hart and Mekhi Becton are questionable.

Injuries and poor protection have allowed L.A. quarterback Justin Herbert to suffer 28 sacks (helping lead to eight INTs) and feel one of the highest rates of pressure among starting QBs.

Takeaways are a tough thing to quantify each week, but Pittsburgh’s defense annually sits among the most disruptive defenses in the league in terms of game-changing plays like sacks, forced fumbles, and interceptions. One or two of those on SNF could swing this game toward the visitors.

Early SNF total pick: Under 45.5

-110 at FanDuel

This total has bounced between 44.5 and 45.5 points since opening on Sunday night. I’m going to lean toward the Under on the high side of this number.

While this Steelers defense can cause chaos at the line of scrimmage, the Chargers are no slouches when it comes to their stop unit. The Bolts are Top 10 in many advanced metrics, including EPA allowed per play, success rate against, and PFF’s defensive rating.

The Steelers offense isn’t great, with few weapons beyond wideout D.K. Metcalf and running back Jaylen Warren. Pittsburgh picked up just 5.2 yards per play and managed only 17 first downs and 225 yards against Indianapolis despite all those extra possessions.

The zone-heavy schemes from the Bolts don’t allow many home run plays, giving up the fourth-fewest completions of 20+ yards. Pittsburgh isn’t explosive to begin with, with only 20 passes of 20+ yards so far in 2025.

Steelers vs Chargers odds
