NFL Week 4 presents us with some great matchups, providing value on first touchdown scorers. Here we’re going through our three favorite options to score first in their games on Sunday, September 28.
Here are my best three NFL picks, as part of our weekly TD props.
Best Week 4 first TD scorer props
Henry (+450)
Hampton (+450)
Fannin (+2500)
TD prop #1: Derrick Henry first TD scorer
We have an absolute monster of a game with the Baltimore Ravens traveling to Arrowhead to face the Kansas City Chiefs. With two closely matched teams meeting each other, we’re getting generous odds on first touchdown scorers, and Derrick Henry is the standout pick for this clash.
Henry has faced the Chiefs once as a Raven, going back to his first game with the team last year, a game in which he scored. He’s had double-digit carries in every game he’s played for Baltimore and has averaged one touchdown per game this season.
TD prop #2: Omarion Hampton first TD scorer
One of the must-bets this week is for Omarion Hampton to have a big performance against the New York Giants. Last week, he scored his first NFL touchdown, and we’re backing him to open the scoring at MetLife this Sunday.
Only one team has given up more rushing yardage than the Giants, and with Jim Harbaugh’s love of the ground game, the Los Angeles Chargers will pound the rock a lot.
We can also expect heavy usage for Hampton, with Najee Harris out for the season. Last week, Hampton had a season-high 19 carries, as well as a season high in receptions and targets. The opportunity is there, and Hampton is facing a defense with a soft underbelly against the run.
TD prop #3: Harold Fannin first TD scorer
When you’re looking for a big odds winner in the first touchdown market this weekend, you have to focus on the Cleveland Browns' trip to the Motor City. The Detroit Lions are obviously huge favorites, meaning we can get some generous odds on Browns players, and we’re taking Harold Fannin to score.
The Lions lead the NFL in touchdowns allowed to tight ends, giving up three TDs to the position already this season. You can get bigger odds on Fannin than teammate David Njoku, and the rookie feels like the better play. He’s level with Njoku in targets but leads in receptions and, more crucially, in targets inside the 20, while also being tied for the most red zone targets on the entire Browns roster.
