The Miami Dolphins will be looking to bounce back from losing Tyreek Hill for the season when they visit the Carolina Panthers in Week 5.

Miami has already looked poor this season, and without one of their top pieces, my Dolphins vs. Panthers predictions expect Carolina to cover the slim 1.5-point spread. Read below for my early NFL picks.

Dolphins vs Panthers predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Dolphins vs Panthers spread pick: Panthers -1.5

A spread this small is very rare in the NFL, but it does make sense. While the Miami Dolphins did beat the Jets on Monday Night Football, it still wasn’t a great performance. They were outgained by 104 yards, and again, they lost Hill, who tore multiple ligaments in his knee, putting his 2026 status also in question.

The Dolphins haven’t shown us much. They rank towards the bottom of the league in a variety of categories, including points scored, points allowed, total yards allowed, and total yards gained. I don’t have much belief in Miami right now, and while the Carolina Panthers just got waxed by the Patriots, they also beat the Falcons 30-0 in Week 3.

Miami’s defense is nothing to write home about, and this feels like an opportunity for Bryce Young and his offense to make a little bit of noise. It will be a close game, and the Panthers could even come out on top.

Early Dolphins vs Panthers total pick: Over 44.5

While neither of these teams is elite defensively, the same can be said about their offensive units. The Dolphins are averaging 20.8 points per game, while the Panthers are scoring 18.8 per contest. However, the mix of two very average teams could result in a higher-scoring affair, too.

The trends point to just that. Miami has cashed the Over in 12 of their last 20 games. Carolina has also hit the Over in 13 of their last 20 appearances. The Dolphins’ last three games hit the Over, as did two of the Panthers’ previous three.

A shootout in Charlotte may be in the cards.
