The Chicago Bears look for an important victory on Sunday when they host the Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field.

With the NFC North being a heated three-team race, the Bears need a win ahead of a colossal showdown with the Packers next weekend.

Meanwhile, the Browns hope to see continued improvement from Shedeur Sanders, but there’s little to play for as the losses and injuries continue to pile up.

Read on for my Browns vs. Bears predictions and NFL picks for December 14.

Browns vs Bears prediction

Browns vs Bears Best bet: Harold Fannin Jr Over 47.5 receiving yards (-114)

Only twice in their last eight games have the Chicago Bears held opposing tight ends to fewer than 52 receiving yards. And that’s good news for Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. and those backing him to hit his receiving yardage total for this game.

Fannin is coming off a game where he caught eight of his 10 targets for 114 yards. It was the first 100-yard game of the rookie’s career, and was more than he racked up in his previous three games combined.

But he also ran 40 routes on the day, just the fifth time all year he has eclipsed the 30 route mark in a game. And he should see plenty of playing time against the Bears, given the injuries Cleveland will be dealing with.

Tight end David Njoku will miss the game, as will running back Dylan Sampson. Shedeur Sanders will also be without multiple offensive linemen, including his center.

That should lead to some quicker throws, and Fannin is becoming his security blanket. When he’s been on the field, the tight end has been the primary read for Sanders on more than 25% of pass plays over the past three games.

Those two games where the Bears didn’t allow 50 or more receiving yards? Philly tight ends caught just two passes, and the Vikings had theirs catch only four.

Fannin will get a solid number of looks against a Chicago defense allowing the fifth-most yards per catch in the NFL, and should post a high receiving total for the second week in a row.

Browns vs Bears same-game parlay

Caleb Williams will face one of the best pass rushes in the NFL, and that means he's going to need to use his legs more than normal. He's rushed for 15 yards or less in his last two games, ending a run of five straight with at least 21 yards. This is a spot where he will have to take off scrambling more than usual.

This total has gone down because people are associating cold weather with low-scoring games. But the weather, while painfully frigid, won’t feature any significant wind or precipitation issues. That’s why I like this game to get into the 40s in terms of points. Both teams rank in the bottom half of the NFL in scoring defense, and I don’t think scoring will be an issue for either team.

Browns vs Bears SGP

  • Harold Fannin Jr Over 47.5 receiving yards
  • Caleb Williams Over 17.5 rushing yards
  • Over 38.5

Our big-ticket SGP: Swift Feet!

While Cleveland’s raw average stats against the run might look good, this run defense has flaws. The Titans ran all over the Browns last week, as Tony Pollard rushed for 161 yards.

D’Andre Swift
has rushed for at least 63 yards in six of his last eight games, and at least 53 yards in eight of his 12 outings this season. I expect the Bears to run early and often, given the pass rush Williams will face and the harsh temperatures.

I’m not a huge fan of the spread having gone past a touchdown, but the Bears should absolutely get the job done here. They have the Packers again next week, and a slip-up here would be a massive blow to their division title hopes. They’ll win at home for the 10th time in their last 12 games.

Browns vs Bears SGP
