Lincoln Financial Field is a tough place to visit, no matter the conditions.

The San Francisco 49ers not only cross the country to take on the Philadelphia Eagles and a frenzied Philly fanbase, but also some potentially disruptive weather during Wild Card Weekend.

I dig into the forecast for Philadelphia on Sunday and how it could impact the NFL odds.

Here’s my 49ers vs. Eagles weather report for January 11.

49ers vs Eagles weather forecast

The San Francisco 49ers got lucky with this game happening on Sunday and not Saturday.

San Francisco will miss a wintery mix the day before and will be met with “balmy” temperatures for this time of year, with temps in the low 40s. However, winds will make those “feel like” closer to freezing for this 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

Some models show sustained winds up to 17 mph WNW with gusts as high as 34 mph, blowing corner to corner at The Linc. Those breezes will calm a bit in the second half, but gust will still be at 30+ mph.

How 49ers vs Eagles weather impacts the odds

The warmer temperatures work in favor of the 49ers for sure, especially when you see how cold it can get on the East Coast at this point in the season.

The biggest impact will be those winds. Sustained breezes around 20 mph are when we see kicking, punting, and deeper passing get pushed around. Some models have the winds as low as 13 mph for this game, so it might not have much impact at all.

Gusts of 30 mph or more will drive longer field goals, of course, especially when winds blow across or corner to corner, like Sundays.

San Francisco and the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t afraid to push the ball downfield, with Brock Purdy and Jalen Hurts sitting sixth and eighth in completed air yards per attempt. If winds are that disruptive, the passing playbook could be shortened up.

Niners kicker Eddy Pineiro is a steady leg on longer FGAs, going 6 for 7 on 50+ attempts and a perfect 10 for 10 on FGAs between 40 and 49 yards. The same can’t be said for Eagles kicker Jake Elliot. He’s struggled on longer attempts, with a 4 for 8 success rate on FGAs of 50 yards or more and an 11 for 18 FGM count on kicks of 40+ yards.

Philadelphia could have an advantage when it comes to special teams, more specifically, punting. The Eagles rank among the better teams in average net punt yards per game (181.2 — 3rd) while the 49ers are dead last in that same stat (95.2).

Punter Thomas Morstead hasn’t been forced into action much this year, punting only 44 times. That said, when he does, San Francisco is offering up a solid starting field position to opponents.

49ers vs Eagles player props to watch

Given the sustained winds can range from 13 mph to 17 mph and gusts could be as tame as 28 mph, the weather influence could be moderate on Sunday. I believe the warmer weather in Philadelphia is more impactful, at least when looking at the total.

This total opened at 46.5 points and dipped to 44.5 O/U, more based on injury reports around 49ers stud OL Trent Williams and WR Ricky Pearsal.

San Francisco has been scoring a ton of points in the second half of the season, and the Eagles can move the chains in many ways. It wouldn’t shock me to see this final score play Over the discounted number.
