Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes look to turn things around after a 1-2 start as they host the Wyoming Cowboys in Week 4.

With shaky quarterback play for a team that's regressed on both sides of the ball, how far will Colorado fall?

Read on for my Wyoming vs. Colorado predictions and college football picks for Saturday, September 20.

Wyoming vs Colorado predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Wyoming vs Colorado spread pick: Wyoming +13.5

-110 at FanDuel

The Colorado Buffaloes are 1-2 and therefore have not had the start to the season that they expected. A deeper dive reveals there are plenty of issues still to be fixed.

The offense is struggling as it juggles quarterbacks, ranking 118th in success rate. Ryan Staub didn’t prove to be the answer, completing just 54.3% of his passes for 5.8 yards per attempt with a touchdown and two interceptions in a 36-20 loss to Houston.

Colorado was sound defensively last season, but it looks to have regressed significantly. The Buffaloes rank 70th in EPA per play and 110th in success rate on that side of the ball. They have been gashed in all three matchups, surrendering 6.8 yards per play to Georgia Tech, 6.0 yards per play to lowly Delaware, and 431 total yards to Houston.

The Wyoming Cowboys won their first two games against Akron and UNI by a combined score of 41-7 before falling to Utah 6-31. There’s no shame in that — Utah looks terrific. The Cowboys have been sound defensively (27th in EPA per play) and can muddy this game enough to stay within the number.

Early Wyoming vs Colorado total pick: Under 44.5

-110 at FanDuel

Wyoming has been dead set on the Under, playing below the total in each of its first three matchups. The total for all three of those games closed at 47.5, and while there’s been a 3-point adjustment for this week’s game (44.5), it isn’t low enough. The Cowboys are now 2-8 O/U in their last 10 games dating back to last season.

The offense checks in at 114th in EPA per play and lacks firepower (119th in explosiveness), so the Buffaloes should be able to load the box. The Cowboys will try to chew the clock and keep things on the ground, but efficiency is a question mark.

On the flip side, Colorado has cashed two Unders in its first three games. That makes the Buffs 3-6-1 O/U in their last 10 games, and given the uncertainty at the quarterback position (does Coach Prime stick with Staub in Week 4?), the low-scoring ways might continue until further notice.

Neither team has experienced offensive success in 2025, and the defense is the more reliable side of the ball for both squads. That has me siding with the Under.
