The USC Trojans have College Football Playoff hopes, but getting into a shootout with the Oregon Ducks should doom those chances. Dan Lanning is simply not someone you want to get into a high-stakes shootout with.
My USC vs. Oregon predictions and college football picks expect plenty of points in Eugene on Saturday, November 22, including some late to help the Trojans gloss up the final score.
Our best USC vs Oregon SGP for Week 13
The USC Trojans' defense has become increasingly vulnerable against the run, allowing both Northwestern and Iowa to gain ground on the ground in recent weeks.
That should be of great concern for Lincoln Riley, about to face the best rushing offense in the country in terms of expected points added (EPA) per rush, per CFB-graphs.com.
Fortunately for Riley and the Trojans, the Oregon Ducks defense is also a bit questionable, suffering its own slight letdowns at Iowa and against Minnesota.
Neither defense can be fully trusted right now, but these are unquestionably two of the top-10 offenses in the country, both able to punish any opponent on the run or through the air.
Expect those offenses to trade successes on Saturday afternoon, making for what could be one of the most entertaining games of the season.
Even if USC is trailing by three possessions late, the Trojans can strike via explosive plays to cover a double-digit spread. And those explosives should come via quarterback Jayden Maiava, who has thrown multiple touchdown passes in seven of 10 games this season.
