UCF's win total holds at 5.5 for 2026, unchanged from a season the Knights missed, but Year 2 under Scott Frost has the market feeling more bullish. See the odds history since 2018, expert predictions, and why this number keeps proving stubborn.

Scott Frost is expected to lead the UCF to new heights in 2026, and the level-up can't come quickly enough for spurned Over bettors.

The Knights have the same win total this season as they had in 2025, when they fell short of expectations to extend a trend of disappointing recent showings. But Year 2 of the Frost Experience in Orlando has oddsmakers, fans and bettors feeling slightly more optimistic than this time a year ago.

Here's a look at the recent history of UCF win totals, along with predictions on whether the Knights will surpass or fall short of their 2026 number of 5.5:

UCF was 5-7 last season but outgained opponents by 43 yards per game. That usually bodes well for the next season. The Knights should be much improved in Year 2 under Scott Frost, who will call plays this year.

While Scott Frost made a major upgrade at QB by bringing in Alonza Barnett III from James Madison, there’s just not a lot of reason to be optimistic about UCF after last season. Frost is hoping to fix one of the worst Power 4 offenses with a transfer-heavy approach, but the Knights’ class is ranked 64th, with additions primarily coming from the Group of Six and FCS.

UCF is projected to start four transfers on the O-line, and that lack of continuity could kill them, even with Barnett behind center. And while the defense has more promise with players like Jayden Bellamy and transfer Bruno Dall (Akron), the Knights seem poised to miss a bowl game for a third straight season.

Colby Marchio

I always lean toward improvement in the second year of a head coach's tenure at a new program.

Scott Frost didn't have the most productive first season back at UCF, finishing 5-7 and 2-7 in conference play. However, he made a major addition this offseason by bringing in Alonza Barnett III from JMU, who threw for 49 touchdowns and rushed for another 23.

Barnett will have plenty of weapons, with Duane Thomas Jr., Waden Charles, and Dylan Wade all returning after leading the team in receiving in 2025. The ground game should be solid, and the offensive line has the pieces to take a step forward; defensively, the secondary projects as the strength of the unit, and they addressed key needs along the interior.

I expect UCF to improve in 2026, and I believe they're capable of winning at least one more game than they did a season ago.

UCF flirted with this exact same line all the way until last season's finale, ultimately falling to BYU and suffering a second consecutive sub-.500 record. The Knights went 0-5 on the road, and squandered leads against both Kansas and Houston.

They also landed a CFP-caliber starting quarterback in the transfer portal (Alonza Barnett III), bring back their top three receivers (Duane Thomas Jr., Dylan Wade and Waden Charles) along with seven defensive starters and have a more forgiving schedule on paper with just two preseason top-25 opponents.

Don't expect a repeat of Scott Frost's second-season magic in Orlando, but UCF should avoid the Big 12 basement and achieve bowl eligibility.

🔑 Key takeaways

  • A rough showing in a limited sample: Sports Odds history has just six graded seasons of UCF football ... and they're ugly, folks. The Knights have finished above their total just once overall, besting their 8.5 total in 2022 by half a game.

  • Hurricane hammers a futures play: The most notable result in the dataset is that 11-win season UCF put together, which cleared the win threshold by two. But that schedule includes a canceled game in mid-September due to Hurricane Florence – and sportsbooks will often void a win totals market if total games played changes for any reason.

  • Cutting it close: The Knights at least keep things interesting for win totals bettors. Four of their six graded seasons have seen them finish one or fewer wins away from their total, including a Push in 2019 (which UCF pulled off thanks to wins in five of its final six regular season games).

How UCF win totals are priced

That crimson-tinged table above clearly hasn't had any impact on how books and bettors are treating this year's UCF win total.

The O5.5 is aggressively priced at -140, carrying an implied probability of 58.3 percent. That's considerably more bullish than last year's 5.5-win prognosis, where the Over was priced at +105 and the Under sat at -125.

The betting odds on UCF's Big 12 conference win total are much tighter, with the O3.5 at -115 and the U3.5 at -105. The Knights went just 2-7 in conference play in 2025.

Did You Know?

UCF is 0-5 ATS as a road favorite over the past three seasons, failing to cover by an average of nearly 12 points per game.
