What will it take for the TCU Horned Frogs to make believers of the sportsbooks? Another 8+ win season, it appears.

TCU faces another modest win total despite back-to-back eight-win campaigns, and it'll come as no surprise that a groundswell of support for the Over has pushed that play into a far less profitable zone as we approach the start of the season.

Here's a look at the recent history of TCU win totals, along with predictions on whether the Horned Frogs will surpass or fall short of their 2026 number of 6.5:

TCU has quietly won nine games in back-to-back years. Keep an eye on new quarterback Jaden Craig from Harvard. My ratings have them favored in eight games

Rob Paul

Sonny Dykes has won fewer than seven regular-season games just once in the last seven seasons, dating back to his time at SMU. And this year, TCU is being underrated because it lost QB Josh Hoover in the transfer portal to Indiana.

However, his loss has overshadowed just how big of a get Jaden Craig is for Dykes. The Harvard transfer is a legit NFL talent who was No. 3 in the FCS in big-time throw rate last season (8.6%). Plus, Dykes upgraded at offensive coordinator by hiring Gordon Sammis from UConn to replace Kendal Briles.

Those moves alone are reason to believe TCU could push for 8+ wins for a third straight season, but the Horned Frogs also bring back two of their best players from last year, wide receiver Jordan Dwyer and safety Jamel Johnson.

Colby Marchio

I may be overselling myself on the Horned Frogs’ new offensive coordinator, Gordon Sammis, who comes over from UConn, but I am excited about the potential. Last season, his quarterback threw for nearly 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns.

They also bring in Harvard’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns, Jaden Craig. This pairing between Craig and Sammis has me intrigued to see if this offense can become one of the more explosive units in the Big 12.

The defense looks poised to remain solid in both the secondary and along the defensive line, but the linebacker room will be the biggest concern. Sonny Dykes went out and added Michael Short and Michael Teason to help fill those gaps and provide some much-needed stability.

🔑 Key takeaways

  • A picture of consistency: Few teams have landed in the same win total range with as much regularity as the Horned Frogs. Their preseason number has ranged from 6.5 to 7.5 in nine consecutive graded seasons, including 2026. They enter this season having gone 4-4 O/U in their previous eight graded campaigns.

  • Public darlings: Just as consistent: How often bettors lean toward the Over on the Horned Frogs' win tallies. TCU's O6.5 at -166 marks the ninth consecutive season in which the Frogs have returned minus money on the Over. That includes a whopping -190 on last year's O6.5, which TCU converted with ease.

  • Leaping over the low bar: This marks just the third time since Sports Odds History began tracking win total odds that TCU has come in with a preseason total below 7. The Frogs smashed the number the previous two times, averaging 10 victories in those two seasons.

How TCU win totals are priced

If you're a veteran of TCU win total betting, 2026 is going to come with a strong sense of deja vu.

A total in the 6.5 range? Check. An Over that pays peanuts compared to the Under? Also check. And the sense of optimism that permeated team discussions the previous two seasons is still present in 2026, evidenced by a unanimous Over call from our Covers analysts.

If you're feeling bullish on TCU's conference schedule, you can opt for the O4.5 on the Frogs' Big 12 win total, which pays at +110. The U4.5 sits at -130.

Did You Know?

TCU is 10-5 ATS in 15 games after a loss since the start of the 2022 season.
