It’s a banger in the SEC on Saturday when the No. 10  LSU Tigers visit the No. 17 Vanderbilt Commodores.

The Tigers have built a 5-1 record despite being tied for the lowest scoring average in the SEC, while the Commodores, also 5-1, average the third-most points in the conference.

Those statistics will shape our LSU vs. Vanderbilt props and college football picks for October 18.

LSU vs Vanderbilt props for Week 8

  • Vanderbilt Alexander anytime TD (-105)
  • Vanderbilt Sherrill o39.5 rec yds (-114)
  • LSU Nussmeier u257.5 pass yds (-114)

Prop bet #1: Sedrick Alexander anytime TD

-105 at FanDuel

Junior running back Sedrick Alexander leads the Vanderbilt Commodores with nine total TDs on the season. He picked up Vandy’s only two touchdowns in a 30-14 loss to Alabama last week, one rushing and one receiving.

That was the third time this season Alexander has gone through the ground and air for TDs in the same game.

He’s only been shut out of the end zone once, so the -105 odds are giving a lot of credit to an LSU Tigers defense that’s allowed just eight touchdowns all season.

Alexander should be heavily involved against the Tigers on Saturday, and if anyone does puncture that tough LSU defense, it would be him.

Prop bet #2: Junior Sherrill Over 39.5 receiving yards

-114 at FanDuel

Junior Sherrill leads the Commodores with five TD grabs on the season, and ranks second in both receptions and receiving yards.

He’s got a gettable 39.5 receiving line Saturday, a total he’s passed in three straight games, including his six grabs for 49 yards against Alabama.

LSU is just inside the Top 10 in the SEC in passing yards allowed at 194.5 per contest, so there are opportunities to attack this secondary.

Last year, Sherrill had three catches for 40 yards against the Tigers. I think he’s definitely in range to hit that Over again this year.

Prop bet #3: Garrett Nussmeier Under 257.5 passing yards

-114 at FanDuel

LSU pivot Garrett Nussmeier is coming off a 20-10 win over South Carolina, where he threw for 254 yards and two scores. He has a passing line of 257.5 yards against Vandy.

Nussmeier has only thrown for 258 yards or more in a game once this season, when he went for 273 yards against SE Louisiana of the Southland Conference.

Vanderbilt has the fourth-most sacks in the SEC, so they can definitely move the senior pivot off his spot, and Under his passing yards total Saturday.
