The highlight of Week 12's afternoon slate is a Big Ten showdown between USC and Oregon at Autzen Stadium, plus there's an SEC matchup between Arkansas and Texas, as well as one of the biggest rivalries in college basketball happening on the football field as Duke visits UNC.

We've got a best bet for those games, plus a few other matchups in the late-afternoon time slot — see below for our college football picks and analysis.

CFB Week 13 preview with Andrew Caley and Douglas Farmer

USC vs Oregon best bet

Over 59.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

A struggling USC rush defense is a cause for concern against the best rushing attack in the country — but the good news for the Trojans is the Oregon Ducks defense has also fallen off a bit lately. This could turn into a shootout. Do not be surprised if the second half entices the thought that whoever has the ball last will win what could be a Playoff play-in game.

Duke vs North Carolina best bet

Gio Lopez Over 191.5 passing yards (-114 at FanDuel)

Duke has been near the bottom of college football nearly all season in EPA allowed per dropback, sitting 122nd coming into today's game. I think Lopez, who has thrown for more than 200 passing yards in four straight games, can exploit that.

See our full analysis and Blue Devils/Tar Heels SGP in our Duke vs. North Carolina predictions.

Syracuse vs Notre Dame best bet

Under 50.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

Nothing has gone right for Syracuse's offense since Steve Angeli tore his Achilles; the offense has been an outright liability in five of its next six games, faring modestly against only Georgia Tech’s imploding defense and now turning to Joseph Filardi at QB — an import from the lacrosse roster who is 7-of-21 for 78 yards in two games.

Kentucky vs Vanderbilt best bet

Vanderbilt -8.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

Vandy ranks Top 15 in both EPA/rush and EPA/pass, ninth in points per quality drive, and fifth in late-down success. The Wildcats' defense ranks 96th in pass success rate against, 111th in scrambling EPA, and 95th in quality drive rate allowed. Kentucky is improved, but this is just a bad matchup against a highly motivated Vanderbilt team.

Michigan vs Maryland best bet

Maryland +13.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

The Terps have a bad offense, and the Wolverines have a good defense, but Michigan allowed 16 points to Purdue and 22 points to Northwestern — both of which average fewer points per game than Maryland does.
