Two teams heading in opposite directions will meet when the South Carolina Gamecocks host the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tide combined strong play with good fortune in a convincing win over rival Tennessee last weekend. Meanwhile, South Carolina’s struggles continued as the Gamecocks failed to generate offense in a blowout loss to Oklahoma.

Here are my early Alabama vs. South Carolina predictions and college football picks for Monday, October 20, 2025.

Alabama vs South Carolina predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Alabama vs South Carolina spread pick: Alabama -13.5

-110 at FanDuel

Writing about the South Carolina Gamecocks means addressing an offense that continues to disappoint. I called it bad last week to be polite, and nothing has changed. To be fair, facing one of the nation’s top defenses in Oklahoma didn’t help, but the numbers tell the story. The Gamecocks rank:

  • 103rd in EPA per dropback
  • 120th in EPA per rush
  • 130th in average third-down distance

That’s the essence of this handicap. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers has been one of the bigger disappointments nationally. While not all of South Carolina’s issues fall on him, his play has been far from efficient.

Even considering injuries and other factors, this offense simply hasn’t worked. That’s why I’m backing the Alabama Crimson Tide to cover.

The Gamecocks may keep things respectable early, but the Tide should pull away as the game progresses. Quarterback Ty Simpson has surged into the Heisman conversation with recent strong performances, and he should find success against a secondary that’s only slightly above average.

Early Alabama vs South Carolina total pick: Under 47.5

-110 at FanDuel

I prefer the Under in this game, and it would probably be my top play between the two sides.

The main reason is South Carolina’s offense, which consistently gets behind the sticks and into predictable passing situations. That’s a losing formula against Alabama, and it has already hurt the Gamecocks multiple times this season. Beyond that, Alabama’s offense will also face challenges.

Simpson should eventually find rhythm through the air, but this won’t be a game filled with quick scores. South Carolina has done a solid job preventing explosive plays, and forcing Alabama to move the ball methodically should help keep the tempo and scoring in check.
