Two teams trying to shake recent slides in the Big Ten collide Saturday afternoon when the Indiana Hoosiers host the Iowa Hawkeyes.

My Iowa vs. Indiana predictions and college basketball picks have two desperate teams getting offensive and going past the total in Bloomington.

Iowa vs Indiana prediction

Iowa vs Indiana best bet: Over 143.5 (-110)

It’s safe to say both teams haven’t handled the level-up in play very well.

The Indiana Hoosiers are coming off back-to-back losses, taking an 83-77 defeat at home to 10th-ranked Nebraska, and following that up getting crushed 81-60 by 12th-ranked Michigan State.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have dropped three in a row, and they've all been close, starting with a 70-67 defeat at Minnesota, before losing 75-69 to 16th-ranked Illinois, followed by their most recent defeat, a 79-72 decision at no. 5 Purdue.

A nice unranked opponent might just be what’s necessary to get these teams back to their offensive selves. Or maybe it’s just how they operate head-to-head.

The Over has cashed in four of the last six, and of the two most recent matchups (which both went Under the total), the teams combined to top Saturday’s 143.5 line once and missed it by just a free throw in the other.

Indiana is a Top 5 scoring team in the Big Ten, putting up 83.1 points per game, ranking inside the Top 5 in both field goal and 3-point shooting. Despite their recent struggles, they’ve seen the Over connect in three of their last four.

Iowa is just outside the conference Top 10 in scoring at a healthy 78.7 points per game, and the Hawkeyes have seen the Over connect in four of its last five games, this while still holding the top scoring defense in the Big Ten, so that shouldn’t be a concern.

Both teams have winning Over records on the season, and this one should stay on script.

Iowa vs Indiana same-game parlay

Over 142.5

DeVries Under 12.5 points

Wilkerson Over 2.5 threes

There’s nowhere to go but up for Tucker DeVries, who scored just nine points on 3-for-10 shooting against Michigan State.

That’s single-digit scoring in four of his last six games, but Iowa might not be the top choice for him to break his slump.

Lamar Wilkerson has led IU in scoring in six straight games, and he’s scorching from downtown, hitting at least three triples in seven of his last eight, including four games of five or more, and a 10-for-15 outing against Penn State.
