The Cincinnati Bearcats and Clemson Tigers are set to tee off this afternoon at the Greenville Winter Invitational.

The Bearcats' defense has been stout, and my Cincinnati vs. Clemson predictions expect that defense to help them cover the spread.

Read on as I share my college basketball picks for Sunday, December 21.

Cincinnati vs Clemson prediction

Cincinnati vs Clemson best bet: Cincinnati +6 (-110)

The Cincinnati Bearcats' defense is the key to covering the spread this afternoon against the Clemson Tigers. They're allowing just 65.5 points per game and holding opponents to 38.4% shooting.

Cincy also excels at forcing slower, half-court possessions, and that'll make it tough for Clemson to pull away.

The return of Jizzle James is also critical, as his presence steadies Cincinnati’s offense: he’s a versatile scorer and playmaker, and he brings the juice to the Bearcats on both sides of the ball.

Baba Miller also gives the Bearcats size, rebounding, and defensive versatility that can cause all sorts of trouble for Clemson’s frontcourt.

Clemson enters shorthanded, with freshman guard Zac Foster out for the season. Foster was their primary spark off the bench, and his absence thins perimeter depth and scoring punch.

Clemson should still control the game, but without Foster’s bench points and good vibes, winning by a wide margin becomes tougher.

In a lower-possession matchup, six points is simply too many points to give.

Cincinnati vs Clemson same-game parlay

Baba Miller is an elite freshman. He gets buckets at all three levels with at least 13 or more points in three of his previous six games.

RJ Godfrey is a talented scorer, but he's also prone to fouls. Guarding Miller will make it difficult to clear his scoring total whilst sitting on the bench.

Cincinnati vs Clemson SGP

  • Cincinnati +6
  • Baba Miller Over 12.5 points
  • RJ Godfrey Under 10.5 points

Our beyond the arc SGP: Miller time

Miller will get double-teamed today, but he's a good passer and has dished two or more assists in four of his previous five games.

Clemson’s offense plays at a snail's pace, and the possessions won’t be there to clear 140 points today.

Cincinnati vs Clemson SGP

  • Cincinnati +6
  • Baba Miller Over 12.5 points
  • RJ Godfrey Under 10.5 points
  • Baba Miller Over 1.5 assists
  • Under 139.5

Cincinnati vs Clemson odds

  • Spread: Cincinnati +6.5 (-115) | Clemson -6.5 (-105)
  • Moneyline: Cincinnati +240 | Clemson -230
  • Over/Under: Over 137.5 | Under 137.5
