A legendary voice from Minneapolis once sang, “I never meant to cause you any sorrow. I never meant to cause you any pain.”

But two games into the Western Conference Finals, that’s exactly what the Minnesota Timberwolves are dealing with.

Down 0-2, my Thunder vs. Timberwolves predictions are looking to the spark off the bench — Naz Reid — to ignite a potential turnaround for Minnesota.

Check out my best NBA picks for Saturday, May 24.

Who will win Thunder vs Timberwolves Game 3?

Oddsmakers are counting out the Minnesota Timberwolves after two one-sided wins by the Oklahoma City Thunder. But don't expect them bow out just yet especially on their home floor.

The Timberwolves are home underdogs for the first time this postseason and catching points inside the Target Center for just the sixth time all season. If Minnesota is going to show any fight, this is the game. T-Wolves win.

Thunder vs Timberwolves prediction

My best bet: Naz Reid SGP — 10+ points/5+ rebounds (-105 at bet365)

Naz Reid has had a cold start to this series, more specifically, his frigid shooting from beyond the arc. The popular forward is a collective 0 for 12 from 3-point range versus OKC.

Coming home could jumpstart his stroke, as Reid enjoyed a 41% success rate from distance inside the Target Center, compared to just 34.5% on the road. But Minnesota needs Reid to be more aggressive and attack the interior of this Thunder defense.

As T-Wolves blogger Eamon Cassels points out, Reid is best utilized by driving and posting up.

Reid was a perfect 3 for 3 inside the key in Game 2, and while his shooting has been rotten over the previous four playoff games (32%), that has more to do with his wayward 3-point attempts. Reid is firing at an 80% clip on attempts within 10 feet of the basket and putting in 60% of looks right at the rim.

Reid appeared to come around to a more interior approach in the second half of Game 2, especially with drawing contact. All six of his free throw attempts were in the final 24 minutes, making four of those shots from the stripe.

On top of being more aggressive with his shots in Game 3, Minnesota needs Reid to maintain his presence on the glass. He’s snatched eight rebounds in both games of the WCF after a quieter rebounding series versus Golden State in Round 2.

He finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in Game 2 and player models for Saturday like a repeat — or better — of that stat line. Projections call for 12 points with the rebound forecast between 5.3 and 6.3 boards.

Reid’s scoring prop has his Over/Under listed at 10.5 points with the Over juiced as high as -134 at some shops. His rebounding total sits at 6.5 (Under -141). We can get the best of the market movement on points and lessen our ask on rebounds by combining his milestone props in a 10+ Points/5+ Rebounds same game parlay at bet365.

Thunder vs Timberwolves same-game parlay

Naz Reid 10+ points

Naz Reid 5+ rebounds

Timberwolves moneyline — 1H

Reid should look to attack the inside more than settling for 3-pointers, and his projections call for 12 points in Game 3.

Reid has grabbed eight rebounds in each of the first two WCF games, and models call for five or more in Game 3.

I’m rolling with an NBA capping classic and taking the home team down 0-2 to have a strong showing in the first half of Game 3.
