The New York Knicks will look to build on the momentum from their NBA Cup win as they visit the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night.

The Knicks have been one of the NBA’s hottest teams over the past few weeks, and my Knicks vs. Pacers predictions like them to cover again tonight.

Let’s take a closer look at this Eastern Conference showdown in my free NBA picks for Thursday, December 18.

Knicks vs Pacers prediction

Knicks vs Pacers best bet: Knicks -4.5 (-110)

The New York Knicks aren’t just your NBA Cup champions, they’re also on fire in the regular season.

They’ve won 10 of their last 11 (including the win over the San Antonio Spurs, which doesn’t count in the standings), a run that has seen New York move solidly into the No. 2 seed in the East.

Right now, it’s unlikely that the Knicks and Indiana Pacers will be heading towards a repeat of their exciting playoff series from last season. Indiana is near the bottom of the conference with a 6-20 record, and its -8.1 point differential is fourth-worst in the NBA.

Without Tyrese Haliburton, who is sitting out the season as he rehabs his torn Achilles, this just isn’t the same team that nearly won an NBA title last year.

While it looked as though the Knicks might rest some players coming off of the NBA Cup, all indications are that the stars will be in the lineup for New York.

But even if the Knicks do rely more on their depth, it shouldn’t matter. These two teams are worlds apart right now, and New York deserves to be a significant favorite on the road.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
