Two teams that are both looking to get back to their winning ways will face off on Sunday afternoon when the San Antonio Spurs host the Sacramento Kings.

While San Antonio hasn’t played its best basketball over the past couple of games, it is still the better team, and I’m taking it to cover in my Kings vs. Spurs predictions.

Let’s take a closer look at this Western Conference matchup in my free NBA picks for Sunday, November 16.

Kings vs Spurs prediction

Kings vs Spurs best bet: Spurs -8 (-110)

The San Antonio Spurs are coming off two straight home losses to the Golden State Warriors, an unexpected mini-sweep that included a thrilling NBA Cup loss on Friday night. That might dampen the enthusiasm for the strong start to the season in San Antonio, but this is still a quality team with perhaps the best young player in the league in Victor Wembanyama

That puts the Spurs in a much better position than the 3-10 Sacramento Kings. Sacramento has lost five straight, and while Russell Westbrook is hitting career milestones and Domantas Sabonis continues to put up double-doubles regularly, nothing is really clicking.

The Kings haven’t been great offensively, ranking 24th in offensive efficiency, and have been regularly exposed at the other end, where they rank 27th in defensive efficiency. Sacramento is allowing opponents to shoot 50.8%, while San Antonio ranks 6th in effective shooting percentage (56.8%).

Even good offenses have struggled to put up points against San Antonio, which is holding opponents to 112.3 ppg. That will make it difficult for Sacramento to keep this one close on the road. I’m taking the Spurs to cover.

Kings vs Spurs same-game parlay

The San Antonio defense should keep Sacramento at bay well enough to keep this game below the total, which comes in well above where the Spurs usually play. Along with the Under, I’m also taking Wemanyama to hit the Over on his combined PRA total, as he is averaging 48.5 PRA over his last four games.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
