By Patrick EversonUtah opened -10 at TwinSpires and is down to -9.5 as of 6:30 p.m. ET, although the Jazz are collecting 62 percent of tickets/69 percent of money on the spread. The total moved from 228 to 229.5, with the Over getting 65 percent of tickets/62 percent of cash.

While the Jazz began the season on a historic run against the spread, they have cooled off there considerably as of late. Though they are still an impressive 28-15 against the spread on the year, Utah is just 4-6 ATS in their last 10. They do, however, seem to be finding their footing again, with three wins in a row including back-to-back blowouts against the Bulls and Nets (games in which they covered by 15.5 and 17).
Memphis has been hot as of late in a competitive Western Conference, going 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five games, despite the continued absence of Jaren Jackson Jr. For all the attention Utah's run against the spread received early in the season, the Grizzlies have quietly built up a strong 24-17 ATS mark on the season.
However, while Memphis is clearly no walkover, this is about as tough of a spot as any in the NBA — on the road in Utah. It will be close, but we like the Jazz's recent resurgence to continue as they cover against the Grizzlies.
PREDICTION: Jazz -10 (-110)
Over/Under pick
Neither the Jazz nor Grizzlies have consistently rewarded Over/Under bettors this season, with Utah sitting 20-22-1 O/U and the Grizzlies 19-22 O/U. That has held true in March, with the Grizzlies 4-6 and the Jazz 5-5 O/U over their last 10 games each. Independently these teams may be difficult to project as it relates to totals, but the way they matchup could help swing it.
Unsurprisingly, as they have been a terrifically balanced team all season, the Jazz are in the Top-3 in both offensive and defensive rating, with a net rating atop the league and almost two full points higher than the second-place Milwaukee Bucks.
The Grizzlies, too, have played opposing offenses tough all season, sitting a respectable eighth in defensive rating. Their offense, however, has been shoddy, as they currently sit 19th in the NBA in offensive rating. While Utah takes a higher rate of its shots from three than anyone else in the NBA, only the Cavs have a lower three-point rate than Memphis.
With two strong defenses but only one potent offense participating in this one, we are going Under.
PREDICTION: Under 227.5 (-110)

While Utah and Memphis may have proven to be difficult to project for full-game totals, that has not been the case in first halves. Both teams are in the bottom-five in first-half O/U on the season, with the Jazz 26th at 16-27 and the Grizzlies 28th at 14-26-1. With two teams who have been slow to start games in 2021, we like the first half Under here.
