The Detroit Pistons will look to make it four straight wins as they host the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.

Between injuries for Detroit, a back-to-back for Los Angeles, and some recent trends, I’m backing the Under in my Clippers vs. Pistons predictions below.

Let’s take a closer look at tonight’s matchup in my free NBA picks for Saturday, January 10.

Clippers vs Pistons prediction

Clippers vs Pistons best betUnder 216 (-110)

Heading into tonight’s game, the Detroit Pistons have hit the Under six straight times, with three of those games hitting totals of 111 points or less. That includes the last meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers, which L.A. won 112-99 at home.

But there are many reasons that go beyond a handful of recent performances to think we will see a low-scoring game again tonight. The Pistons are second in the league in defensive efficiency (107.8), and are allowing only 111.6 ppg overall on the season.

That number will inevitably come down against the Clippers, who play at the NBA’s slowest pace and average a combined total of 226.5 ppg, among the lowest numbers in the league.

Both teams also have some offensive concerns coming into tonight’s game. Cade Cunningham missed Wednesday’s game and is questionable again tonight, meaning he could be limited even if available for Detroit.

And with the Clippers on the second game of a back-to-back, their production is likely to lag slightly as well.

There may not be a single huge red flag for tonight’s game, but with this many signals all leaning in the same direction, I think the right play is clear. I’m taking the Under.

Clippers vs Pistons same-game parlay

The Pistons could be shorthanded again, but that’s hardly seemed to slow them down this season, so I’m confident to take them to cover at home against a Clippers team that’s on the second game of a back-to-back.

I’ll also take Duncan Robinson to hit the Over on his scoring total of 10.5 points, as he’s averaging

11.5 ppg this season and is one of several players who will be asked to do a little more scoring with Cunningham limited by his wrist inury.

Our "from downtown" SGP: Stewart's role growing

Isaiah Stewart is coming off a 31-point performance on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls, and could see a big role in the offense again today with Cunningham listed as questionable with a wrist injury.

Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
