Iowa Corn 350 field

We'll see 37 participants square off in the Iowa Corn 350, with No. 66 Joey Gase joining the 36 usual suspects.

Ryan Blaney was a popular winner of the inaugural edition of this race when it was held on a Sunday evening last year. Not surprisingly, he's taken strong early support, though he's still looking up at Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Christopher Bell prior to qualifying.

Iowa Corn 350 expert picks and predictions

Odds listed below courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook as of 8-2.

Iowa Corn 350 pre-qualifying favorites

Kyle Larson (+450)
Kyle Larson started on the pole and led 80 laps last year, but an issue took him out and placed him 34th.

On short tracks this season, Larson has finished third (Phoenix), first (Bristol), fifth (Martinsville), and fourth (Dover). He has improved his finishing spot the last two weeks on the season, going from fourth to second.

Denny Hamlin (+450)
On short tracks in 2025, Denny Hamlin has finished second (Phoenix), second (Bristol), first (Martinsville), and first (Dover). That’s why despite a 24th-place finish last year, he’s a favorite. He has six Top-4 finishes in his last eight starts on the season.

William Byron (+900)
William Byron finished runner-up last year and has two Top-6 finishes in four short track starts this season, placing sixth at Phoenix and Bristol. If not for rain delays the last two weeks, Byron would enter Iowa with two consecutive Top-5 finishes.

Iowa Corn 350 sleepers

Chase Elliott (+1200)
Chase Elliott was 10th at Phoenix, 15th at Bristol, fourth in Martinsville, and sixth at Dover this season. He finished third at Iowa last year.

Brad Keselowski (+3500)
Brad Keselowski won the inaugural Xfinity Series race at Iowa and is a three-time winner here. He finished 10th last year and stacked back-to-back Top-10 finishes on the season, including a 10th at Dover and a fifth in the Brickyard 400. He also has six Top-11 finishes in the last eight races on the season.

Iowa Corn 350 fades

Ryan Blaney (+550)
Ryan Blaney started second and led 201 of 350 laps en route to an inaugural race victory. On short tracks this season, Blaney has finished 28th (Phoenix), 11th (Martinsville), fifth (Bristol), and eighth (Dover).

But with how challenging it is to win the first two races at a new track on the schedule, mixed with his so-so short track results this season, I don’t like these odds.

Joey Logano (+1000)
Joey Logano has struggled on short tracks this season, including finishes of 13th (Phoenix), 24th (Bristol), eighth (Martinsville), and 14th (Dover). He finished sixth last year.

Tyler Reddick (+1800)
On short tracks this season, Reddick has finished 20th (Phoenix), 18th (Bristol) 14th (Martinsville), and 12th (Dover). He finished 22nd here in 2024.

Iowa Corn 350 prop pick: Christopher Bell Top 5 Finish

I don’t like Christopher Bell at +500 for outright winner, as it’s too steep for my liking. The safer play is -150 on a Top-5 finish.

Bell is a two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series winner at Iowa Speedway and finished fourth last year after leading seven laps.

Pick: Christopher Bell Top 5 Finish (-150 at DraftKings)

Iowa Speedway track analysis

Second-year races are hard to decipher because everyone now has experience and can adjust from the first-year learnings.

Iowa should race a lot like Richmond again, though. The 7/8-mile oval bears a similar shape with a similar strategy and tire fall-off.

With multiple lanes to pass on, Sunday night’s race should be a good one.

  • Iowa is very similar to Richmond. That’s a track where Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske, Hendrick Motorsports, and the now-defunct Stewart-Haas Racing have won 10 of the last 11 races, including 14 of the last 16 overall.
  • Those teams combined to take seven of the Top 8 finishes last year at Iowa.
