The Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates square off again tonight at PNC Park in Game 2 of their three-game series.

With Mitch Keller dealing strong in recent outings, our Tigers vs. Pirates predictions lean heavily on the right-hander delivering another solid performance for Pittsburgh.

Tigers vs Pirates prediction

My Tigers vs Pirates best bet: Mitch Keller Under 2.5 earned runs allowed (-105 at DraftKings)

The Pittsburgh Pirates got pure dominance from Paul Skenes in the series opener, and they will be confident with Mitch Keller taking the hill right behind him. The right-hander may have a 3-10 record in 20 starts, but he’s compiled a 3.41 ERA, striking out 92 in 119 innings of work.

Keller has been lights out in July. Across three starts this month, he owns a 1.37 ERA, cashing the Under in earned runs allowed in all of those appearances. Last time out, Keller gave up just one earned run in six frames against the Minnesota Twins.

When we take a look at his home statistics, the trends play in favor of this pick as well. He’s hit the Under in earned runs allowed in three consecutive outings at PNC Park. Keller is pounding the strike zone and locating his stuff extremely well. That comes at the perfect time because the Tigers have one of the better lineups in baseball.

Across 39 at-bats, he’s held the Detroit Tigers to a .256 average. While the Tigers will definitely be coming out with fire tonight after getting shut out on Monday, I still do expect Keller to keep them at bay.

Tigers vs Pirates same-game parlay (SGP)

Mitch Keller Under 2.5 earned runs allowed

Gleyber Torres Over 1.5 hits

Casey Mize Over 4.5 strikeouts

Gleyber Torres has enjoyed a resurgent year with the Tigers. He made the AL All-Star team and is hitting .281 with nine home runs and 45 RBI. His hits total sit at 1.5 tonight, which is relatively high.

But, he just went 3-for-4 two days ago and has three multi-hit games in his last six appearances.

Right behind Tarik Skubal in the Tigers’ rotation is Casey Mize, and he’s proven to be a stellar No. 2. The righty is 9-3 with a 3.15 ERA and also just made the All-Star Game. When it comes to strikeouts, he has 77 of them in 88 2/3 innings of work.

The Bucs sit sixth in the big leagues in most team strikeouts.
