The Baltimore Orioles are an unmitigated disaster, and now they take on one of the best teams in baseball in the Detroit Tigers tonight.

Detroit has already beaten Baltimore four straight times this season, and my Tigers vs. Orioles predictions and MLB picks tell you why this streak will continue on Wednesday, June 11, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET at Camden Yards.

Tigers vs Orioles prediction

My Tigers vs Orioles best bet: Tigers moneyline (+115 at bet365)

The Detroit Tigers took the opener of this series against the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 5-3. It was the fourth win in a row for the Tigers over the O’s this season.

The Tigers have built on last season's success and lead the American League Central with a 44-24 record thanks to a balanced lineup, solid starting pitching, and an elite bullpen.

The Orioles, on the other hand, might have had the shortest contending window in recent memory. The only team in the American League with fewer wins is the Chicago White Sox. The only team with a worse run differential is the Athletics.

They can’t pitch. And shockingly, they can’t hit.

The Orioles hand the ball to their best pitcher for this matchup in Zach Eflin, but he is only slightly better than a league-average starter.

The 31-year-old right-hander is pitching to a solid 3.57 expected ERA, but ranks in just the 52nd percentile in opponent expected batting average, and his strikeout rate is in the Bottom 15% among MLB pitchers.

Today, he’ll face a Tigers lineup that ranks eighth in OPS and wRC+.

The Tigers counter Eflin with a right-hander of their own in Casey Mize. The 28-year-old is finally having his breakout season, pitching to a 3.26 xERA, the best mark of his career by a longshot.

Mize doesn’t strike out a lot of guys but keeps hitters off balance with his fastball-split finger combo and ranks in the 71st percentile in opponent xBA. He now takes on a struggling Orioles lineup that ranks 22nd in batting average and OPS.

Detroit also has a big edge when it comes to the bullpens, ranking fifth in ERA compared to Baltimore’s 26th.

This all leads me to believe that there is value in backing the Tigers as underdogs in this matchup.

Tigers vs Orioles same-game parlay (SGP)

Tigers moneyline

Spencer Torkelson Over 0.5 RBI

Ryan O’Hearn Over 1.5 total bases

I’m betting Spencer Torkelson helps power the Tigers to another victory today.

Torkelson enters this game with an .849 OPS, which includes 16 home runs and 47 RBIs, and he’s driven in a run in three of his last four games. He is also a solid 2-for-5 in his career vs. Eflin.

If the Orioles want to have any shot in this one, the bats need to get going, so look for Ryan O’Hearn to step up.

The O’s first baseman has had a lot of success vs. Mize in the past, going 6-for-11 with two dingers. He’s also been one of Baltimore’s most consistent hitters this season, and is batting .354 over his last 17 games.
