Garrett Crochet pitched an absolute gem in Game 1 to give the Boston Red Sox an early lead in the AL Wild Card series and a chance to advance with another win in Game 2.
The Red Sox turn to Brayan Bello for tonight’s potential series clincher, and I’ll break down how he fits into my Red Sox vs. Yankees props and MLB picks for October 1.

Red Sox vs Yankees player prop picks
Prop #1: Brayan Bello Over 14.5 outs recorded
If there’s a blueprint to beat the New York Yankees, Garrett Crochet followed it to a T in Game 1 as the Boston Red Sox ace gave up just one run and struck out 11 over 7 2/3 innings.
We likely won’t see quite as masterful a performance from Brayan Bello in Game 2 tonight, but the 26-year-old has shown that he’s up to the challenge, particularly against the Yankees.
Bello faced the Yankees three times this season, going 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA in those games. The right-hander is also 3-1 with a 1.44 ERA in his career at Yankee Stadium.
But we’re not asking much of Bello to cash this prop — just five solid innings of work — and he’s hit Over 14.5 outs in 20 of his last 21 outings.
Prop #2: Aaron Judge Over 1.5 total bases
Offense was at a premium in Game 1 as the Yankees got on base just four times against Crochet while recording only seven hits in the ballgame.
However, Aaron Judge did his job with two singles, and I’m expecting more of the same from the two-time AL MVP with the season on the line in Game 2.
Judge has recorded 2+ total bases in five of his last six contests and has hit well against the Red Sox this year, cashing this prop in each of his last four meetings vs. Boston.
The Yankees need their big bats to come up clutch in tonight’s must-win game, and Judge has to be the guy to lead the way.
Prop #3: Carlos Rodon Under 5.5 strikeouts
The Yankees will hand the ball to Carlos Rodon with their playoff hopes on the line tonight as the southpaw looks to build on a solid regular season.
Rodon has been a strikeout artist throughout his career and even for parts of this season, but the 32-year-old saw his numbers take a significant hit in the second half.
The left-hander was one of just 12 pitchers to record 200+ Ks this season, but Rodon has recorded Under 5.5 strikeouts in eight of his last 10 games. He’s also posted Under 5.5 strikeouts in each of his three games vs. Boston this year.
The Red Sox have been one of the most disciplined teams at the plate over the past month with just under 8.4 strikeouts per contest, and that was on display again in Game 1 as the club combined for just eight Ks.
With an early series lead and all the pressure on the Yankees, my MLB player props expect the Red Sox to be patient at the plate against Rodon.
