Tarik Skubal Over 8.5 strikeouts (+110 at FanDuel)
The Philadelphia Phillies host the Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon in a battle of Cy Young favorites. Detroit’s Tarik Skubal faces Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler in what is expected to be a fantastic pitching matchup, and I’m backing Skubal to deliver in the prop market.
A strikeout artist, Skubal ranks in the 94th percentile or higher in chase rate, whiff rate and strikeout rate. Entering this game in particularly dominant form, Skubal boasts a 1.42 ERA and 0.73 WHIP over his past six starts.
He has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in three of those five outings.

Zack Wheeler Over 7.5 strikeouts (-156 at FanDuel)
Sticking with the same game, Zack Wheeler should serve as a strong counter to Skubal. Like Skubal, Wheeler has been dominant in the strikeout department.
He currently ranks in the 78th percentile or higher in chase rate, whiff rate and strikeout rate. As a result, Wheeler has recorded eight or more strikeouts in seven of his past eight starts.
This success is likely to continue against Detroit, a team he has struck out eight times in each of his two career meetings.

Mike Trout to hit a home run (+240 at FanDuel)
Later in the evening, the Los Angeles Angels host the Chicago White Sox. Aaron Civale takes the mound for Chicago, and he profiles as a strong fade candidate.
Through 13 starts, Civale is 2-6 with a 4.38 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. His underlying metrics are equally concerning, as the right-hander ranks in the 37th percentile or lower in expected ERA (xERA), strikeout rate and barrel rate.
There may be no better candidate to take advantage than Mike Trout, who boasts an .833 slugging percentage through six plate appearances against Civale. He has homered once during that span and has added two more home runs over his past eight games.
