Our 3 best MLB player props for Monday, September 8

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Prop #1: Miles Mikolas Under 3.5 strikeouts

-105 at Caesars

The Seattle Mariners host the St. Louis Cardinals to kick off the late window of Monday’s MLB slate. Right-hander Miles Mikolas takes the mound for St. Louis and should serve as a good fade candidate.

Through 27 starts this season, Mikolas is 7-10 with a 4.89 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. His underlying metrics are even worse.

Entering this matchup, Mikolas possesses a 5.46 expected ERA (xERA) and .286 expected batting average (xBA). Perhaps his biggest flaw is his inability to generate swings and misses, as he ranks in the 15th percentile in chase rate, third percentile in whiff rate, and fourth percentile in strikeout rate.

Prop #2: Logan Webb Over 6.5 strikeouts

+105 at Caesars

Shortly after that game begins, Logan Webb gets the ball for the San Francisco Giants against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Not only has Webb excelled this season, but he's also dominated Arizona throughout his career.

Across 13 meetings, Webb boasts a 2.46 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. The right-hander recorded seven strikeouts in the most recent of those outings.

Webb also ranks in the 65th percentile in chase rate and 77th percentile in strikeout rate this year.

Prop #3: Garrett Crochet Over 7.5 strikeouts

-150 at Caesars

Later in the evening, the Boston Red Sox take on the Athletics. Boston hands the ball to left-hander Garrett Crochet, who looks to rebound following a rare poor outing his last time out.

That start likely ended his bid for the AL Cy Young Award, but that doesn’t take away from how dominant Crochet has been this season. Through 28 starts, the southpaw is 14-5 with a 2.67 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.

He's particularly excelled at generating swings and misses. Entering this matchup, Crochet ranks in the 90th percentile in chase rate, 79th percentile in whiff rate, and 91st percentile in strikeout rate.
