The Philadelphia Phillies have cooled off at the plate, managing just seven runs over their last three games.

But in tonight’s Phillies vs. Giants predictions, we're backing the road team to break out offensively against a struggling veteran arm — with Trea Turner poised to play a major role in the turnaround.

Let’s break it all down with my July 9 MLB picks.

Phillies vs Giants prediction

My Phillies vs Giants best betTrea Turner Over 0.5 runs (-110 at bet365)

Trea Turner has been a firestarter for the Philadelphia Phillies offense all season long. He is hitting nearly .300 on the year and constantly finds himself on base, providing him ample opportunity to score.

He has recorded 61 runs through 92 games and touched home plate at least once in 52% of his appearances.

There have been very few dryspells along the way. Turner, who currently finds himself in a three-game scoreless drought, has only gone four consecutive games without a run once since the middle of April. That’s nearly three months.

He has a nice matchup to get back on track against Justin Verlander. The 42-year-old has looked his age this season, earning zero wins through 14 starts while posting a 4.84 ERA.

Verlander primarily attacks right-handed hitters with four-seamers and sliders. Turner has hit both effectively this season, sporting a .333 average against fastballs and .286 average vs. sliders.

Turner also leads the Phillies in average and wOBA on the road when facing right-handed starters. He should be able to earn his way onto the basepaths, setting up some of the power hitters behind him to drive him home.

Phillies vs Giants same-game parlay (SGP)

Trea Turner Over 0.5 runs

Bryce Harper Over 1.5 total bases

Heliot Ramos Over 1.5 total bases

Bryce Harper has been a monster in day games this season. He’s hitting .281 with a .368 wOBA and 17.4% barrel rate against right-handed pitchers.

Harper has gone under 1.5 bases in eight of the last nine but still owns a 41% clear rate on the season, indicating he’s capable of a lot more.

Heliot Ramos is a lefty masher, sporting a .379 average and .1.096 OPS against left-handed pitchers in day games this year.
