The San Diego Padres aim to keep their momentum rolling as they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks under the desert lights Wednesday night.
San Diego’s lineup has been clicking lately, and I’m eyeing a plus-money player prop featuring table-setter Luis Arraez as a key piece of the puzzle.

My Padres vs Diamondbacks best bet: Luis Arraez Over 2.5 hits + runs + RBI (+120 at BetMGM)
Wednesday’s pitching matchup is an odd one as Nestor Cortes makes his debut for the San Diego Padres while Anthony DeSclafani makes just his third start for the Arizona Diamondbacks. With a lack of prior data to work with this season for both hurlers, let’s focus on the known quantities.
DeSclafani has made 171 starts in his career and has worrisome splits against left-handed hitters, so I’m betting on that continuing tonight.
The 35-year-old has a 4.78 career FIP against lefties and a .286/.419/.429 slash line in 2025. Luis Arraez has pounced upon this deficiency, going 5-for-6 with two RBI and a 2.000 OPS in the past against DeSclafani.
Arraez hits right-handed pitching well (career 127 wRC+), so it’s no fluke. The veteran is in fine form, hitting .323 in July and following that up with two multi-hit games to begin August.
Once Desclafani is pushed from the game, Arizona will have to rely on a worrisome bullpen that allowed seven runs a day ago to move its collective ERA to 4.75 since the All-Star break.
Arraez will have advantageous matchups throughout the contest and hits near the top of a lineup that should capitalize.

The Padres are in great form, winning eight of their last 10 games, and will have an advantage in the bullpen and at the plate. Cortes turned in a 1.00 ERA across four minor league rehab starts and faces an Arizona lineup that has struggled against lefties since the break (80 wRC+).
Ryan O’Hearn hasn’t made a huge mark yet in San Diego, but he hits right-handed pitching well (138 wRC+) and could make his presence felt.
