Mets vs Padres prediction
My Mets vs Padres best bet: Mets moneyline (-118 at FanDuel)
Sean Manaea of the New York Mets made his season debut this month after missing the first half of the campaign due to multiple injuries. Despite the extended absence, Manaea returned in top form.
Through three appearances on the mound, Manaea boasts a 2.19 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. His underlying metrics suggest that he'll continue trending in a positive direction.
If he qualified, Manaea would rank in the top quarter of the league in expected ERA (xERA), expected batting average (xBA), average exit velocity, and hard-hit rate.
Meanwhile, right-handed rookie Ryan Bergert has been called up from Triple-A and is in line to make an emergency start Tuesday. The San Diego Padres are giving Yu Darvish an extra day of rest, given how poorly he's performed since returning from injury.
That said, Bergert’s analytics are far worse than his surface-level stats indicate. He's made 10 appearances in MLB this season, during which the rookie owns a 4.62 xERA.
Not only do the Mets hold the pitching edge, but they also boast the hitting advantage. This season, New York outranks the Padres in runs scored per game, slugging percentage, OPS, and home runs.
Mets vs Padres same-game parlay (SGP)
Manaea is also worth backing in the prop market, given he owns a dominant 36% strikeout rate and 32.7% whiff rate this season.
