Matt Olson has produced noticeably more offense when playing in Atlanta this year.
My Mets vs. Braves predictions expect that trend to continue in what should be another high-scoring affair between NL East division rivals.
Let’s take a closer look at my MLB picks for Saturday, August 23.
Mets vs Braves prediction
Mets vs Braves best bet: Matt Olson Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI (-125)
Matt Olson has been a force at Truist Park this season. The left-handed slugger has cleared this line in 59% of his home games while averaging a healthy 2.3 H+R+R per contest.
The home cooking should continue Saturday against Clay Holmes and the New York Mets. The two sides have played nothing but track meets of late, combining for 61 runs over four head-to-head meetings the past 10 days. That’s more than 15 runs per contest.
While the Mets have done more of the scoring, it’s not as if they’ve had answers for Olson and the Atlanta Braves' offense. Atlanta has plated 26 runs over the four games, good for an average of 6.5.
Olson is 3-6 against Holmes with two extra base hits and three walks. He’s shown an ability to get on base consistently, and I expect that to continue in this one.
With the likes of Ronald Acuna, Michael Harris, and Jurickson Profar all surrounding him in the order – and in great form at the plate – there should be plenty of opportunities to clear this line.
Mets vs Braves same-game parlay (SGP)
Brett Baty is legitimately one of the hottest hitters in the majors. He’s averaged 3.1 H+R+R over the last 10 games while clearing his line in nine of them. His average exit velocity is through the roof and he’s recorded two extra base hits through just five ABs against Cal Quantrill.
We’re rounding out the parlay backing the Mets. They’ve scored at least six runs in seven of their last 11 and should cause all kinds of problems for Quantrill.
