HR picks for May 17
Nathaniel Lowe (+550 at DraftKings)
It’s not very often I mention anyone from the Washington Nationals, but Nathaniel Lowe is swinging it relatively well, and today’s matchup favors him. Lowe is batting .231 with eight home runs and 31 RBI, and he just went deep on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles.
The O’s send Kyle Gibson to the mound here, and he’s struggled immensely, posting a 13.11 ERA so far. Lowe has also absolutely raked against the right-hander, going 5 for 9 lifetime with three home runs. Seven of Lowe’s long balls have come off righties as well. He could stay hot and smack No. 9 in this contest.
Josh Naylor (+425 at DraftKings)
Josh Naylor has been an excellent addition to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He’s hitting .304 with five home runs and 27 RBI in 2025. The slugger's swing is much better against right-handed pitchers, batting .330 with five bombs compared to .250 versus lefties with zero homers. The Colorado Rockies hand righty German Marquez the baseball tonight.
Marquez has struggled all year, posting an 8.27 ERA. Naylor also rakes off the veteran, going 3 for 9 lifetime with a pair of home runs. He also has just one long ball this month. Naylor is due to leave the Chase Field ballpark, and there’s no better time than against Marquez. All four of the homers he’s surrendered have been on the road, too.
Corbin Carroll (+210 at DraftKings)
We’re jumping over to Corbin Carroll, arguably Arizona’s best player. The athletic outfielder is doing it all for the AL West ball club. He has 14 home runs, 31 RBI, and a .287 average. Carroll is top-five in the Majors in long balls.
Carroll has three bombs in his last four games and also went 2 of 5 on Friday against the Rockies with a double. While he hasn’t faced Marquez as much as Naylor, there’s still some success. Carroll is 1 for 2, and his lone hit is a home run.
Twelve of Carroll’s bombs are off right-handed hurlers, and six of them have been at Chase Field in front of the Diamondbacks faithful. Don’t be surprised if Carroll ties Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber for second in the MLB in home runs.
