The San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres finish up a quick two-game set this afternoon at Petco Park.

Michael King dominated San Fran last season, and I’ll explain why I believe he’ll have another quality start in my Giants vs. Padres predictions.

Keep reading for my MLB picks for Wednesday, April 30.

Giants vs Padres prediction

My Giants vs Padres best bet: Michael King Under 1.5 earned runs (-115 at bet365)

Michael King may have found his name in trade rumors this past winter due to the San Diego Padres’ financial situation, but he reached a new deal in arbitration with the organization, and they’re certainly happy he’s still around.

The right-hander has been dealing in 2025, going 3-1 with a 2.18 ERA in six starts. He’s struck out 40 in 33 innings of work while walking just 11.

The former Yankee honestly hasn’t had a bad outing yet. He’s cashed the Under in earned runs allowed in three of his last five appearances, tossing five scoreless last time out against the Tampa Bay Rays. He even threw a complete game shutout versus the Colorado Rockies earlier in the month.

When it comes to facing the San Francisco Giants, King compiled a 1.59 ERA in 2024 against them in three starts, surrendering a mere three earned runs across 17 frames. Lifetime, he has a 2.41 ERA vs San Francisco.

King’s ERA this season is even lower at home, sitting at 1.25 compared to 3.97 on the road. He’ll carve up the Giants today.

Giants vs Padres same-game parlay (SGP)

Michael King Under 1.5 earned runs allowed

Michael King Over 6.5 strikeouts

Xander Bogaerts Over 0.5 singles

King is averaging 10.9 Ks per nine innings through his first six starts. He’s comfortably cashed the Over in strikeouts in three straight outings, registering nine, seven, and eight Ks.

He’s held this current Giants lineup to a .210 average and has struck out 17 in 62 at-bats. King’s strikeout numbers at Petco in ‘25 are also spectacular, sitting down 31 hitters via the K in only 21 2/3 innings of work. He’ll miss some bats in the series finale.

Xander Bogaerts hasn’t been at his absolute best so far with a .253 average, but he’s been swinging it well over the last couple of games. The infielder has 25 hits in total this season and only nine are for extra bases. He smacks a lot of singles.

Bogaerts was 2-for-4 on Tuesday with a homer and also went 1-for-3 in the finale against the Rays with a single. If Bogaerts is going to keep up his hit streak, it’s more likely than not it will be a single-base knock.
