The Los Angeles Dodgers were blown out against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, losing by a 4-0 scoreline.

My Dodgers vs. Rays predictions see superstar Shohei Ohtani leading the charge in a rebound effort to close out the series.

Let’s break it all down with my August 3 MLB picks.

Dodgers vs Rays prediction

My Dodgers vs Rays best bet: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 total bases (-120 at Caesars)

Shohei Ohtani has been a little quiet of late, at least by his standards. He hasn’t gone yard in six consecutive games and has recorded just three bases over his last four.

Ohtani has averaged 2.4 bases per game this season and cleared in 52% of all games, so this kind of quiet spell is abnormal.

I like his chances of getting back on track against Joe Boyle on Sunday afternoon. Boyle has pitched well in a limited sample this season but has allowed power to lefties, giving up a .205 ISO and 1.5 homers per nine innings.

Ohtani has as much power as anybody in the sport and hits all three of Boyle’s pitches well. Ohtani has seven homers against Boyle’s most-used pitch (the fastball), while he owns ridiculous ISOs of .529 and .429 vs. the slider and splitter, the other two pitches in Boyle’s arsenal.

There is no easy way for Boyle to attack Ohtani, who is simply too good to stay this quiet for so long. Look for Ohtani to make noise with his bat.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Dodgers vs Rays same-game parlay (SGP)

Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 total bases

Teoscar Hernandez Over 0.5 total bases

Dodgers moneyline

Brandon Lowe Over 0.5 total bases

Teoscar Hernandez has hit well of late, recording 10 hits over his last nine games. He now faces a starting pitcher in the Tampa Bay Rays' Boyle who throws a heavy-dose of fastballs.

Righty or not, Hernandez is always a threat to do damage against the fastball.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were blanked Saturday and have dropped two of the last three. With the big pitching advantage that comes from Yoshinobu Yamamoto taking the mound, it shouldn’t be difficult for the Dodgers to generate enough run support to win.

Lastly, Brandon Lowe is a good target to record a hit. He’s hitting .300 vs. righties this season and is sporting a .313 average against the fastball, Yamamoto’s most frequent pitch.
