The Chicago Cubs take an 8-3 stretch to Target Field for the series opener of a three-game set against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, July 8.

My top MLB picks and Cubs vs. Twins predictions are calling for Chicago lefty Shota Imanaga and first baseman Michael Busch to lead the way in another win for the North Siders.

Cubs vs Twins prediction

My Cubs vs Twins best bet: Michael Busch Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI (-120 at bet365)

Not only is Chicago Cubs first baseman Michael Busch mashing of late with a 19-for-39 run at the dish while piling up 12 runs and 12 RBI across his past 11 contests, he’s been teeing off on righties all season.

Busch’s .432 wOBA, .289 ISO and 1.014 OPS against right-handed pitchers respectively rank second, third and 10th in the majors.

Of course, Minnesota Twins righty Simeon Woods Richardson checks out as a favorable matchup, too.

He’s sporting a run-of-the-mill 4.41 ERA and 4.75 xFIP while allowing a healthy 42.4 hard-hit rate and 11.5 barrel percentage, and Woods Richardson has also allowed a .306 batting average and .371 wOBA to left-handed hitters.

Cubs moneyline

Michael Busch Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI

Byron Buxton Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI

While Chicago lands a favorable pitching matchup, Minny does not. Cubs lefty Shota Imanaga has won consecutive starts since returning from the IL, while allowing just three runs and scattering only seven baserunners across 10 1/3 innings.

The Twins also rank a middling 15th in wOBA while sporting the fifth-highest strikeout percentage against left-handed pitchers for the season.

Minny star Byron Buxton, doesn’t have any trouble with southpaws. He’s sporting a team-high .407 wOBA, .314 ISO and .981 OPS against lefties for the campaign, and is in an excellent groove with 18 runs, 20 hits and 12 RBI across his past 19 contests.
