Cubs vs Brewers player prop picks
Prop #1: Freddy Peralta Under 1.5 earned runs
Freddy Peralta was lights out for the Milwaukee Brewers during the regular season. He allowed multiple runs in only three of 17 starts, equating to just 18% of the time.
While the Chicago Cubs were one of the few teams to crack the code, Peralta did throw six innings of shutout ball against them on two different occasions. He’s plenty capable of slowing them down.
Key bats like Michael Busch (2-16), Seiya Suzuki (3-23), and Ian Happ (2-32) can certainly attest, as they have miserable track records against Peralta. Look for those struggles to continue.
Prop #2: Jackson Chourio Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI
Jackson Chourio was one of the league’s most productive batters when facing left-handed pitching. He hit .343 on the year with a .241 ISO, hitting for a nice combination of average and power.
Matthew Boyd had a strong season, and pitched well against hitters of each handedness, but his ISO was nearly .100 points higher vs. righties like Chourio.
Boyd leans heavily on the fastball/changeup combination, which also works in Chourio’s favor. He hit .364 against fastballs and .407 vs. changeups against lefties, his best numbers of any pitch type.
Prop #3: Kyle Tucker Over 0.5 singles
Kyle Tucker went hitless in the series opener against San Diego. He followed that up with three hits in two games, all of which were singles.
The single train should continue on Saturday afternoon. Tucker is one of the few who have enjoyed success against Peralta in the past. He’s 5-11 in head-to-head at bats, with four of the hits going for just one base.
Peralta has done a fantastic job of sucking the power out of left-handed bats like Tucker. However, it’s worth noting he’s allowed a higher average vs. hitters at that side of the plate.
Tucker has 13 hits in 49 at-bats against Brewers relievers, so if necessary, there’s reason to believe he can find success after Peralta departs.
